Frank, On another note for coding. I recently had (dealer work) the Alpine audio upgrade installed. Is there any way to see/tell from my end if the dealer properly coded the radio? In other words changed the head unit to "Alpine Hifi"?

looks like post build date sep 2008 was the first offering. Makes since since Mike Miller and others in the CCA state that september is the time when the lines get reset or retooled for changes. Production runs vary based on model & birth place (munich, Regensburg, ect ect ect).
oddly wikipedia has a good write up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive#...tion_.28CIC.29

A modification of the head unit coding data after the Alpine Hifi retrofit is only required for cars built from 03/2009. If I have access to the car I can see whether it was done properly... |

update
Finally got around to installing the necessary cables for factory bluetooth retrofit. Now I am pretty much all set for Stelvio.
a very straight forward installation using all BMW OEM parts. I ran out of daylight so currently the bluetooth antenna and microphone are just running over the top of the rear seat. if anyone is looking to do this or needs pointers drop me a line. Slowly the bargain basement BMW continues to transform away from it's original configuration. Up next are the suspension with tire & wheel package. I am thinking of following the recent bimmer mag article for "The Ultimate Handling Machine".

One of these days I'd like to have some coding done as well. Too bad I missed the Welt event. Oh well, next time...

Okay...back on topic.
I now have the wires running via oem paths to the factory locations for the bluethooth antenna and microphone. I am having some trouble removing the overhead console, where the map lights are and the stock microphone are I need to plug the new wire from the mulf into the current microphone to get back voice command and phone functions. I have tugged and gently plied the assembly to no success. Anyone have any advice? My next stop will be up the road at Gladen and ask them to finish the installation. I hate to admit defeat but discretion may be the better part of valor.

I previously owned an E90 & that came out easy as pie (just like the DIYs)...but then all non-M E90s came with a sunroof and mine had a fancy pants rear veiw mirror.
The Bargain Basement 1er has neither of these features so much for being less complex

A co-worker would like to have his X3 coded so I'm thinking I should go ahead and get mine done at the same time. Anyone else in the Wiesbaden area interested in joining us?

Car Coding in Stuttgart
Car Coding in Stuttgart 9-10 December 2013. Should be on Industry Strasse in the Burger King (or McDonalds) parking lot.
Spread the word & in my opinion a must have simply for activating the traffic alert features. Because we all need to know when livestock is on the A8 Autobahn to Munich! http://car-coding.de/termine.html

However, my '08 135 is giving me an issue. Of all the modules I can read (which is all of them), only the Kombi has any references to RPA (specifically MMI_ENA_RPA_RDC and DSC_MIT_RPA_CC). Neither the Cappl, DSC, nor any other module has any other references to RPA. The Cappl has CCC:RDC, but no CCC: RPA code line. If anyone has any idea if/how it is possible to activate the RPA on a CCC car, please let me know. I can see "FTM" in my nav menu, but it's grayed out. Thanks! |
