Hexon Autowerks RR700, preliminary dyno results at Advan performance
Hey guys,
some RR700 results from Kent's car following a quick dyno tune before he blasted off to Melbourne for the weekend, lol. N.B. this is on 98 RON fuel only, NO Ethanol, NO Meth' injection. The PI kit was not being energised nor was the Fuel-It Stage 3 LPFP. AFR's were mid to high 11's and maximum ignition advance was only 7.5 degrees above 6,500rpm. The WGDC was super low, in part due to the TFT system and the fact that 17psi at peak power in no sweat for these 700's. Back-end-flash for Pump fuel was courtesy of Trebila Performance of course and the car was run on Map 3 with some Duty Bias tweaks by myself so I could create the boost curve I wanted. Straight E85 results will be coming next week. Cheers, JD. P.S. these are not going to be Pure Stage 2 killers, but I suspect they will be giving RB's a very good run for their money. |

Firstly thanks to kent for letting me give these rr700s a go. coming from my stock n54 my impressions are:
the first day driving on them they felt abit meh bit unresponsive and didn't feel they pulled that hard - but the second day they really came alive!! (and stayed like this since)dunno what changed between the two days (besides the aero package thanks to the kangaroo) : below 2k rpm they pull almost exactly like stock maybe a tiny bit better. which is no slouch. throttle response is great and even with the D mode of the alpina flash you can plot around town and it just feels like a stock car. for those worried about lag I wouldn't be. the best way to describe it is that there is a transition point around 2-2.5k where the boost starts ramping up and it comes in nice and progressively below that you have a stock car (400nm or whatever it is). realistically if your buying these turbos your not going to be keeping them below 2k rpm anyway. and if you do you get stock like performance. but the biggest difference i noticed is the top end these things just keep pulling!!! can't wait to experience this thing fully tuned on e85. based on my initial impressions: 1. I want a set 2. the only reason you should be picking the rr600s over the rr700 is $$$. oh and one other thing checked the oil level after 1500km still full and no smoke while driving so in my eyes these turbos are already miles ahead of the smoky RBs . |

Can you guys please print dyno graphs showing torque in metric units and with RPM as the X axis and mention what gear it's in?
No idea when peak torque happens, no idea when peak boost is reached... |

This may help.
Tire size and final drive will change results. For example I have a 3.85 in my auto. 5th gear is too fast for many dyno's hence 4th gear.

You want your dyno run in the 1:1 gear to minimise drivetrain losses. As stated above some dynos can't run that fast for certain cars.
Do some googling on how transmissions work to see why 1:1 is the lowest drivetrain loss.
