Ford Mustang pathetic 2 stars at Euro NCAP Crash Test.
This says it all about the myth of European cars imported to the US needing to beef up their safety equipment to meet US standards...

To be fair, partially because of lack of safety gear like lane keep and active cruise control that's a available on US spec Mustangs.
I'd guess Ford kept content low to keep pricing competitive for EU cars. Not quite the big deal it sounds like on paper. Now about both passengers striking the dash after the airbags deflated... |

Nanny's cannot stop your mistakes as a driver. I'm trying very hard to curb this bad habit of mine.

What I really meant is that if you are a good driver and look far ahead and anticipate, you usually get out of accident situations. What you can't avoid, for example someone running a red light and T-boning you, it's best to have a safe car than not. In this case, the Mustang would not offer the same protection as a 3 series which received 5 stars...

All the safety tech in the world will not stop accidents. Because its always human error. Case in point, look at airplane mishaps. Human error is top on the list for plane mishaps and look at all the tech they have.
People really get complacent because they think that the car will do whatever it is for them. You want a safe car? Just make it do this in an accident: Either way, I watched a video for a Mustang (2016 model I think) the NHTSA recently tested and it didn't do well at all. America does there own regulations because we think we know best. Like with the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO, the Aussie version had the fuel tank under the car under the trunk area. NHTSA said that wasn't good so they put it in the trunk and added a brace because that is better....... |

Not too uncommon for cars to be "built" to pass certain tests. For example, the 2016 BMW 5-Series only could achieve a "Marginal" rating in the American IIHS small overlap crash test. The 2016 Mustang beats it with an "Accepatable" rating.
