Wheels...please help with offset and sizes
Is it me or is it nearly impossible to find a wheel that actually fits this car? I keep looking at sites and they all have several options but then when it comes right down to it they only work if the fenders are rolled or something like that. Why is that? And maybe I just don't know enough about all this. What are good realistic wheel sizes that will sit pretty flush but not rub. I want the rears to have a little more of the concave look than the fronts. What do you all suggest? I'm seriously so aggravated with finding wheels and then the offset being all off. Meanwhile my car sits with a bent wheel. PLEASE GIVE ME ADVISE.

I'm in the opposite side of this spectrum. I want to go much more aggressive and people keep screaming at me lol
I grabbed some temporary wheels for the summer in what I'm told is pretty safe specs. 18x8.5+45 and 9.5+45. Tire size is going to be very crucial to rubbing and the potential to needing fenders rolled. |

1. Read through this section on Wheels and you'll likely find your answer.
2. Go to The Tire Rack (the people who sponsor this section) -they have an on line chat capability with experts on wheel fitment. If you read enough here, you'll often hear of guys buying the wrong wheels for their car. Sometimes pics of cars with wheels that look really wrong. |

You are correct Junkie, many cars can be hard to find many wheel choices, ours definitely fall in that category. Notice low135 is calling those specs "safe", but then talking about stretched tires and rolled fenders.
If you are mainly into the appearance, I'd just call VMR and get them to set you up with something. If you stay with 8inch fronts and 9 inch rears you will not have so many issues. A good front offset is 42, rear you want something 50ish, depending on the width of the wheel. My wheel profiles are listed in my signature. Tons of us run wheels that size, but you have to use stretched tires, mess with the camber, be careful if you lower the suspension, etc. I actually did a mod to my rear brake hubs to allow my wheels to fit better. Watch out if you get somebody talking about something that doesn't make sense. Some people really run not very practical setups with extreme camber, etc. Good luck.

Its too bad they don't seem to want to release new wheels for the 1er though.

I don't know if they are custom made "for the 1-er" but they are pretty much perfect, no concerns about fitment. As for new wheels, no, it's been these options for a while. But they are good ones. |

But 1Junkie said he wants something more concave in the rear. So he's more looks oriented. High offset wheels will not give him that look. I think the Afulgen (sp?) setup that some ordered here were decently concave in the rear. VMR makes plenty of good options if you are mainly looks oriented.

So I ended up ordering a set of VMR V803 in gunmetal. 19x8.5et45 front and 19x9.5et57 rear. I'm a little hesitant about going with 19s since I'm ordering these due to bent 18s. Fingers crossed. I'm excited for the gunmetal look though. Hoping it will make the Alpine white on coral red look a little less bougie.

Sounds like a great choice to me. So you went for the wheel that will get you a wider rear tire instead of trying to go concave I see. Put up some pics once you get them installed!

I also never mentioned anything about stretching tires lol just said tire size can be crucial. You can't blindly throw on a 275 in the rear with any wheel and be fine. |
