That seems counter-intuitive to me. The short runners of the N54 manifold should yield better top-end HP figures, great for dyno pulls, extended high speed runs, and track days spent in the upper reaches of the rev range. The 3-stage manifold is fantastic in its ability to vary the effective runner length to suit the RPM range maximizing the torque delivery, great for the street oriented vehicle.

I'll have to do some reading.

It’s both and I think zombie_head had it backwards. The 3-stage intake manifold off of a N51 or the high-horsepower N52 variants would yield better torque everywhere.

An alternative is to install an N54 intake manifold which yields more top end power but not as much torque at lower RPM. Just the intake manifold is used, not the turbos or related pieces.

Cool I didn't know people were using N54's manifold...

If it is indeed shorter than the stock in the N52, logic dictates it will have more power in higher RPMs, but lower power in the lower RPMs.

Longer tubes provided more power in the lower band.

Not an "upgrade" or something I would do for a daily driven car, and I remain skeptical about the benefits (how many HP gained) with this trade-off (plus cost to buy and install).

Yup! He jumped in the trunk as I was grabbing my detail spray, seats were down and he climbed into the back and laid on the folded-down seats so I just let him hang out LOL

I swapped springs to Eibach 10k/12k on my 135 n55 on my ST XTA Coilovers to a stiffen the car up. Because of the perch clearance with my 255/40/17 square track setup I had previously ditched the helper spring. No issues except with the stiffer springs I can only get +1/4” to my previous settings.

Sort of a bummer with these cars how tight everything is. I could really stand to be 3/4” or more ’lower for track use than my new height but we’ll see how she do this weekend.

I wish there was a thread with a dyno chart to show the difference between the stock intake and with the N54...

The only thread I found with something relatable shows the OP saying the car got slower on 0-50 mph...
So maybe it's just what I think and the car loses so much power in the usable band, that it's not worth it gaining a few hp in the very top end.

Is anyone running N54 Intake Manifold? https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1486800

The 3 stage intake manifold drops off pretty quick after 6500rpm so if you raise your redline then the N54 manifold really starts to shine

Also it's nice because you don't have two $200 DISA valves to break

Yes but it's all hearsay. Would like to see a dyno chart showing how much gain up top (even if a tune to raise RPM has to be done) and how much loss down low.

I'm working a rough set of velocity stacks in SketchUp. 150mm long runners with 48mm diameter trumpets. I need to take more measurements, but it's only a rough sketch right now.

On my monthly 250mi drive to visit my Dad.
Checking mirrors, see an orange and lime FR-S in the rearview. Drive a bit, glance back. There's a bronze and copper one. Wasn't that just green?
As we round a bend, the hood transitions to puce.
Change lanes to let him pass, goes purple and rust.
From the rear, it was pretty consistently purple and grass green.

Trippy, trippy finish.
He didn't stop when I pulled off for fuel, so I couldn't inspect or ask, but it looked sprayed rather than wrapped (to my untrained eyes at highway speeds.)

Sway bars arrived today, which means all the parts have arrived for M3 upper/lower arms, RSFB and all related nuts/bolts.

Sadly they did not include new front brackets, picture was for "Illustration purposes only", so i will pick one up on Monday and new bolts for that as well.

Friday i will spend the day at the DIY and do everything myself, if the KW shop is open Saturday (i think they are) then will take it for alignment then or maybe same day (friday evening if lucky).

Being we have valvetronic, we don't even need throttle bodies on those stacks lol
