Driver's seat finally cracking; repair options?
Hi folks,
Been awhile since I've posted here. The car has been fine, but while washing it this weekend, I noticed the bottom left bolster on my leatherette seat has finally cracked. Only lasted 9 years; kinda disappointed... Anybody got any suggestions on how to repair\retard cracks like this in the seat material? Thanks for any help, ianc

The leatherette in The Wife's X1 is doing the same thing...
We're debating custom leather for the front seats -vs- new leatherette for just the drivers seat base section which seems to run ~$450

$450 for just the bottom piece? Ouch... Is that installed by the dealer? Any further info?
Was really just looking for something to kind of patch it up, but... ianc

Yup, just bottom drivers side for a 2013 X1, and not even sport seats. Part number from RealOEM and goggled for prices... And that's leatherette only- no foam or anything

Somewhat relevant - Had bucket (seat & back) in my Colorado recovered for reasons you mentioned in good quality vinyl for $500. Came out well because guy knew what he was doing. Did have contrasting piping so that added to cost.

Had a similar crack on my '09. Took it to an recommended auto upholster, he showed me how it's cracked all along the side but not split or visible and recommended recovering the whole side bolster for $250-$300. (And he had the material in stock because he said he does a lot of BMWs). He said repair would be $125 but the crack will come back in areas above and below the repair. I decided to just get the repair and I'm a little more conscious now getting in and out of the car.

Hmm... thanks for the info guys. Sounds like opt for the $25 cheapie repair kit, live with it, or shell $100-500 for the complete repair. I'll have to think about that...
