Spoke to a mechanic I know and did a little reading.

Sta-Bil is certainly a fuel stabilizer. However, SeaFoam is more of a cleaner....but, it does also have a little fuel stabilizer. My understanding is Sta-Bil is better for longer term storage and SeaFoam is better for shorter periods or for people who drive there cars very limitedly but regularly enough.

I did an oil change in fall 2017 but only drove 2000 km since, should I make another one before storage still?

Change the oil every 12 months if you are not driving much. So fall of 2018 is perfect.

How long was it stored? I stored a GT4 for over 2 years with Seafoam and no issues.
5 months.

So, I called my BMW dealership and they told me that the replacement battery (61-21-2-353-811) is in fact an AGM Battery and is the correct replacement for our 1M.

So, given that....what setting do I use for the trickle charger?

Garage List
all valid points above ^^^^

I've stored my 1M every winter since she was born in 2011. About Oct/Nov I inject some fuel stabilizer fluid, then wash/wax her, to include taking wheels off and washing/waxing inside rims to remove any corrosive brake dust, blow dry car/wheels with leaf blower, raise wipers off windshield, put car on battery tender and turn off the lights.

If you have rodents, plug outside holes...never tried dryer sheets but sounds reasonable....

Never had issues with tires or flat spots or misfiring coming out of storage.

Don't call them trickle chargers as that might get some of us too excited. Today they are intelligent chargers, called that, or battery maintainers.
Deltran make a model just for AGM's. I believe Ctek will tell you to use the snow flake symbol. Google Ctek & Deltran.

Correct, the snowflake mode on the Ctek for an AGM battery

Does anyone use that BMW battery charger?

So, it goes through its cycles 1-8....pic below!

Is it normal that I hit Step 7 and then revert back to Step 4???

It states that I shouldn't leave the charger unsupervised for a long period of time if it is not on Step 7 with in 50 hours????

It's been 48 hours! However, I was already at Step 7 last night...but, reverted back to Step 4 when I checked today.

Thoughts?

I certainly believe that your "BMW" charger is really a CTEK unit. Follow instructions on unit and forget about it. "BMW" units used to be Deltran. I'm using Deltran on my 2 winter stored cars for over 10 years. Deltran or CTEK-hook them up & forget about them. For Deltran, when battery is fully charged and just being "maintained", there is a green light on unit. Every time I go into garage, I see a green light on each unit and know everything is OK. My battery in my 2008 is still original.

Open a door or do anything to cause batter drop and it will drop down to 4. Btw, turns out for BMW batteries you do not use the snowflake mode. Just reg.

It's not all bad - every spring it feels like you are getting the car all over again for the first time. It makes you appreciate it just a little bit more!
