TBH, on your car, they all look great. With individual character for each. Choices!
I agree with all black on the dark blues, so that's the way I have gone.

I also like that last choice best. I like seeing the silver slats when I spot a bimmer coming up the road - makes it easier to read for me.

Started with wanting to just fix the belt issue I got myself into,,,, I don't think I told you guys what that is though?

-wind back-

So on Sunday I had WAY too much fun on the lake. Totally worth it though.
The last snow bank I hit was the one that did me in. I pushed the intercooler back into the P/S pulley and belt. Rubbed the outer rib right off the pulley and pushed the belt back 1 rib, which ripped off.
I couldn't get the IC to pull back away from the belt so I just pulled it out.
But the belt was my big worry. Knowing all the horror stories about belts being sucked into front seals I called AAA for a tow.
I fucking waited 6 hours for nothing. I called for updates every hours and no one I talked with had any clue about anything, just read a script. I finally got pissed enough that I just started to drive it home, 115 miles.
The SOB made it with zero issues. 4 rib belt, no intercooler, no cooling fan and all my ice racing gear/tires. This thing's a damn trooper!

-back to today-

So I get the belt off and I look at everything around ... I have a leaking A/C line, and have a new one to go in. So I may as well put that in, I mean I'm here.
BMW apparently changed the routing of the damn thing and it fits for shit into the condenser. Nice thing is Aluminum is bendable, and I had to bend it a fair amount more than I'd of liked. With some excessive yelling at it, it fit.
1 Job done.

Then I look at that boogered P/S pulley. It isn't horrible, I could use it. Eh I'll take it off and have a good look just to be safe.
I get it off and well, I'll see if the locals junk guy has one. He does. So I went to buy it and that's where I'm at for now. Tomorrow I'll finish up what I can and make it drivable again.

Then Sunday try to break it all over.
But I'm throwing the stock IC in this time.

Bob,
Over about 120 the front passenger side tab comes out and flaps around.
Haven't figured out why or a fix.

What's the part # and ballpark price for one of those hood insulator thingys?
Might add that to the next maintenance roll up expense...

I mean,..., I could look it up, just lazy...

Considering how much the hood lifts at speed, I'm not surprised that the vacuum created pulls the insulation down...

Quick side note:
I live in the middle of nowhere, what the locals refer to as "The County" south of Tallahassee... We just had a Cops moment with sirens and a helicopter... Yeah, somebody is about to go on vacation and their insurance is going up... That stuff never happens out here....

Edit to add: most certainly a car chase. Just had a second set of sirens playing catch-up...

You know, I actually have the reversed tii bumper decals like on the 135 tii concept, but I’ve not been brave enough to put them on.

The chrome slats aren't super noticeable at most angles:
On your car I like the 335is reverse black/chrome style. On my space gray metallic I prefer the 135is chrome/black slats.

I have the same color but an E88. I was wondering if you ever had to repaint any of yours and if you were able to find a good match from any kind of retail outlet (store or online).
My front fender, right where it meets the bumper cover, the paint has cracked and is lifting, never seen anything quite like it. It's only about 3/16" by an inch if I just "break it off" so will not be that noticeable to the uninformed....but I also want to try to patch it as well as I can without spending hundreds (thousands), preferably before it starts to rust.

Best place I have ever found for matching paint was AutomotiveTouchup.

They sell pens, brushes, even rattle cans. I have cleaned up a lot of road rash on a ton of different cars, and always pleasantly surprised with the results.

I even once "rattle canned" my daughters entire front bumper on a "learner" car when she first started driving. Sanded the whole bumper down, put down primer, base, and then clear.

About a $100 in price, some elbow grease, and a random orbital buffer...and it blended perfectly...metal flake and all.

Yeah, I rattle canned an A3 front bumper with paint and clear from them but my clear coating skills leave a lot to be desired. I don't want to make this worse by screwing it up. I could not get the clear to have an even finish all over the bumper and the concern I have is that the same will happen on the fender which will stand out. Given the size and location of the damage I think I'll break off the paint chip and use the touch up bottle from Automotive Touchup. It's inexpensive and if it goes wrong it's no worse than it is now....

With their clear, I found that less coverage and more applications was better.

Now with chips, I used a product from Scratch Wizard. It was a filler that you put in, and came with a bottle of scratch leveler. Put it on, wait 5 minutes, use the liquid leveler and it would pull off all the excess filler without doing anything to your existing paint.

Then you are left with an even surface. Their touch-up paint didn't match too well, so that is where Automotive Touchup came in as they had the best match to finish the job.

Coincidently, someone inquired about the hood liner last week.

https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1587139

The member who inquired was also wondering why BMW makes the part but doesn't install it on our cars.

After reading through the 6 page thread I found one member who thought it was a matter of cost cutting on our beloved 1 series. Those bastards!! lol

Don't think the hood liner is necessary, or that I even want it actually. Plus, knowing about the way our hood lifts at high speeds and the possibility of the hood liner coming loose doesn't sound like any fun.

Not that I'm driving at 120mph or more very often.
