Still no Michelin PS4 for 18" wheel users?
I just went on the tire rack website and it showed nothing available for the OEM 18" sizes of 215/40-18 and 245/35-18.
Is there still no ETA on this? |

You can switch to 225/40-18 and 255/35-18. It's a common upgrade for a 135i with no issues. Are those available?

Also on stock 18" rim widths (7.5" front and 8.5" rear) you can't really use the extra tread width on the 225/255 (you can see based on where the tread hits the road/dirt marks you are never making full contact on the ground with the extra width). Lastly - I find the steering feel and response is crisper with the 215 front vs 225 (less sidewall, and narrower contact patch). That combined with the insane price of the 500s, was a no brainer for me. |

PS4 is a commuter tire with very poor steering response. You will be much happier with the "4S" tire, or maybe a tire from another brand such as Indy 500.

I am running the 4 S 235/40 on a 18x8.5 ET38 & a 265/35 on a 9.5 ET58 in the rear (ARC-8). I wish I had done a 225 in the front as large bumps can cause a rub on the fender and I don't want to pull them. I wish I had tried a 275 in the rear as I feel I have a little more room left to add another 5mm on the outside.
The lateral grip is amazing. Corners and off ramps are a blast and I feel like I am not even pushing the tires. I am FBO with a new clutch and MHD at 80% in 2nd gear, full power in third, currently glazing the tarmac as a shift from 2nd to 3rd. In the process of a PS2 install with meth. Traction will be a new concern & I may need to look into a new tire, I don't want to loose that lateral grip though. |
