Beautiful car. Amazing specs. I agree, game changer car. Im up for a new car soon and have been looking at 911s and now I have a dilemma. The only thing I worry about is the interior quality. In the past its been a deal breaker for me. Cant wait to see this thing in person.

I hear what you're saying but the price delta between a 911 with similar performance might make the interior quality less important.

Perhaps but this isn't a camaro or mustang, I think the fact that it's mid engined puts it into a different category.

If this car truly delivers on the stated claims, it's an absolute game changer. Wow.

Cayman would be a 4 cylinder at this money and down 200hp

Im imagining a Z06 with a tune/exhaust for 100k ish. Its gonna be a monster.

sad about the no manual tho
How is this new though? Pound for pound, the C7 Corvette already destroys these cars too. I don't think the performance aspect of the C8 was ever going to be in question.

I'm just wondering how I feel about the looks. Will wait until I see it in person. But under 3s to 60 for a car of this category is just silly. Well done!

Guess the Carrera S pulling off sub 3s 0-60 runs is no longer such a big deal. It's twice as much as this.

The new Corvette is going to have some marque makers lose sleep. I love my Vette but this one very well might persuade me to put one in the garage. I impatiently await reviews and track times.
Since I took a friend for a ride in my SS 1LE, he wanted to take me for a ride in his C6 corvette. It was the very first year for that corvette and I swear it underwent some kind of re-design part-way through that model, because this one just looked so basic and plastic inside. I'm only 5'11" and it felt like there was no way someone a couple inches taller would fit. I really felt like I was way too large for the car and my head would be jammed against the top. It's amazing to see just how far beyond this car even the C7s are.

I will say that from this C6 to C7, there's no comparison for interior. This C7 I took pictures of at the dealer goes up against anything else IMO. A lot of people are biased and think certain interiors are better when really, there's nothing significantly different or the "more expensive" one uses just as much plastic and fake features. I'd have a hard time living with that C6 interior, but this C7, my 2SS 1LE, no problem.

In these days, I think the perceptions are more of a problem, rather than the actual "interior".

Well, that's why I bought a 2SS 1LE. Destroys an M4 GTS

That said, if a new M4 comes out with ~500hp, it has the potential to be pretty special, as that's typically the dyno number and not at the crank, so if it's not too overweight, the rich torque curve can make for a pretty amazing car. It won't compete with a corvette, but the corvette crosses a line for me as far as practicality, in terms of interior space and utility, so it's unlikely I'll ever go there.

WOW!
Supercar for 330i/m340i price. As fast as a Ford GT. Though quoted 0-60 requires a package so maybe more than $60k but still a bargain and with the same horsepower engine. (Less than 500 HP seems a little underwhelming but somehow they can get that 0-60 with stickier performance tires).

And I'm sure they benchmarked this on a bunch of cars, but it'd be hilarious if it outperforms the Ford GT.

This car is going to set the automotive world on fire!

Think about the performance we're talking about here - and this is for the BASE Stingray with 495HP from an "antiquated" pushrod V8! They stated 1.0g on all-season tires too.

Much of the speculation was the GM doesn't know what they're doing with a mid-engined layout. From the talk last night, they looked at it as a complete advantage that they took fully advantage of.

All this for what will be less than $100K fully spec'd is epic.
I'm assuming that the 3LT model will probably be close to $20K more than the base car, plus other options should keep it under the $100K mark.
NSX owners have to be feeling really stupid (yes, I still hate that car!)

What the hell is the Z06 and Zora (ZR1 replacement) going to be like?

If they can offer a real track package (aero, coilovers, BBK, semi-slick tires) for this beast, it wouldn't need much else to smoke the competition at the local circuit. (certainly not power if the 0-60 claim is true)
Well that happens when you get bailed out of bankruptcy, zero out debt, then rack the debt back up to $100M in 8 or so years...

Really, the interior is that much of consideration? If the interior takes away from being able to drive the car to its potential is one thing, but for Chevrolet to produce a mid-engine'd sports car with the level of performance advertised at a $70,000 price point I'd think you'd have to overlook what will probably be minor interior issues.

I was considering a 2008 Cayman 5 years ago before I bought my Z4. The interior was nothing to write home about. Laid out decently for driving, but the design and build quality was average for the original MSRP price point. It wouldn't have kept me from buying the car.

The NSX is a hybrid that gets better gas mileage but for the price who cares.
