First time running on a dyno and got some pretty decent results

N52
Modded Airbox w/silicon Elbow
AA headers
BMW Performance Exhaust
3-stage Intake Manifold
AA Tune.

HP: 242
TQ: 215

Which I'm thinking is pretty high assuming there is some drivetrain losses to factor in. The group I was with typically sees E36 M3's in the 205HP range with similar torque. But we had an E46 M3 hit around 280HP. So being somewhere in between is right what I expected.

With the headers and PE it sounds fantastic. And generally quiet around town. It definitely feels quicker than my e36m3 did after 40mph.

Those are great numbers! I love how nice the N52's torque curve is. It's a very well set-up N/A motor.

An N54 intake manifold would give you a little more power at the very top of the rev range, and MILVS would net you ~8hp and ~8lb-ft across the power band, all wrapped-together with a StageFP tune. Maybe 255whp, if you wanted any more.

Nice. Alot of people underestimate bolt on 128s. They will definitely give E46 M3s a run for their money on the track with the right upgrades.

I'd be interested to see how the n54 manifold would change the curve. I would think you would use some low end. Got any dynos with those mods?

There are dyno's on the "3" series board with the N54 combo. You do lose a little TQ down low (I think around 8-10lbs IIRC), but you continue to gain up top past 7K rpm like Chris said.

Milvs are a great bolt-on. I did them when I replaced my VCG. It's like adding Headers all over again....but the gains are in the low-mid rev range.

There are dyno's on the "3" series board with the N54 combo. You do lose a little TQ down low (I think around 8-10lbs IIRC), but you continue to gain up top past 7K rpm like Chris said.

I’ve heard that milvs are the next step Sounds like I’d need to buy a stagefp tune in order to make them work. Which I hate to do because I already invested in my aa tune. Which would make milvs a $1500 proposition all-in. Install looks a little tricky as well. But they are definitely on my mind.

It looks tricky, but once you have it apart it's easy to see how they go in. I didn't use the "washer method".....I rented a spring removal tool from the guy that sells the Milvs. Once you send your old ones back, it almost pays for itself.

I can understand the tune. I was fortunate in that I went with Bob from Stagefp from the start through all of my mods.

One other thing you could consider if you haven't done it...is a rear diff swap. The 3:73 out of the Autos give you the biggest bang for SOTP feel. You can feel that more than all the other "bolt-on's" combined in my opinion.

250whp with a set of 3:73's in this car is a blast!

I was expecting some based on reviews. But I have not experienced much at all. It's loud at WOT but very quiet otherwise.

Contact Nic @ AA, they have a MILVS tune now. I did a dyno test after I installed MILVS with several runs stock, and several after the tune. Didn't make a huge difference at the top, but there was probably ~6hp and quite a bit more tq across the lower end of the range.

That would be a game changer for me. It sounds like you gained 6hp with milvs and tune. Not just milvs alone. Given I would have a free tune upgrade and the milvs cost, that's not too bad.

I contacted AA and they do have the milv tune. Gotta wait until the corona dies down to get it though.
