In fact, I'm being quoted $1500 to install the RSFBs now plus what I spent on the parts, so $1800 total. I don't think it's worth that much. $1000, ok. But almost $2000? Thoughts?

That just sucks, the original amount was about right. Too bad they were morons.
Generally quotes are book times from an actual guide x the $'s per hour the shop charges. So the new quote is either crazy expensive per hour, or they are looking up the wrong job. Or possibly taking you for a ride. $1500 is NOT reasonable. Have to keep shopping. I guess I got lucky w/ the shop, but my charge sounds in line with others here that I've read over time. I asked them about doing the work and they basically said "yep we've done that many times, we know all about it". |

Was yours all-in? Brake bleed, alignment, misc parts needed (bolts. etc)?

I'm getting additional quotes. $1500 is insane.

If it helps when I had mine done by a BMW specialist (LukeG) when living in IL, I paid 1000 for a RSFB install AND coilovers AND front sway bar. No alignments included though. Total of $1400 IIRC. If you want I can ask Jake Wile when I go there this coming week how much he charges for this kind of job. Or you can call them and talk to Chris who manages the front desk.

I was able to do this in a driveway with jackstands, a bit of a pain in the ass but possible. Even then, I imagine most shops will charge less for this since you wouldn't need to completely remove the subframe to install the new ones. Just loosen the bolts, maybe remove the brake lines if they need extra space and go at it. |

They also strongly suggested I do the M3 control arms. I think I might. What do you guys think?

Front are a very good upgrade. Will add a little NVH, but, well worth it. At least to me it was. Rear - the guide rods are worth doing. Others not so much. Read the thread "OE vs M3 Rear Suspension Arms" by fe1rx in the stickies in this section and see what you think.

I should have done the full bushings when I had the subframe lowered to put in a rear ARB. Just wasn't in the mood for the struggle of getting the old bushings out. I have the Whiteline inserts and they did help.

The upside is that it's a different job on a different part of the car, so unless they are cutting you a discount to do both, just do the bushings for now. Then evaluate what you want to do for the rest. The bushings are a HUGE difference, getting rid of that rear end wobble around tight corners.
Short version - If they offer a discount, maybe go for it. If not, skip for now, do another time. I feel $900 might yet be high, but it's a lot better. |

It’s $900 to install the RSFBs and M3 control arms. I confirmed with them it’s these parts: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...m-upgrade-kit/

If you want to save a little you can do only the rear M guide rods and get the bulk of the benefit of the M rear arms. I think the parts are TRW JTC1430 and JTC1431 and can be bought for around $100 each. At least for the guide rods, they are 'handed' and go in a certain way. Just make sure the person doing the install is careful.
