In Honor of Dackelone - Thank
I never got to meet Dackelone in person, we talked about it during ED but he was on vacation at the time. During that time we crossed online many times and had some side chats. He was a great member. We forget we can go at any moment. So in honor of Dackel I just want reach out to some cool people I have chatted on this forum for many years and let them know I appreciate them while they are still here. Some special mentions of course to ///BYU , Champignon , Artemis , 1mGator , Arvinz . You guys make this place enjoyable still and just wanted to let you know....just in case.

Seriously such a bummer about Dackelone. He was one of the pillars of this little community of ours, for sure. I didn't know him personally, but it sounds like he was taken way too young. Just another reminder that life is short, maybe even shorter than you think. I like to think that Dack lived his to the fullest - it certainly seemed that way.

Here’s the link - I didn’t realize that Dack had passed until reading nacho’s post above.

I had the privilege to participate on several road trips with David.
Great guy, such a knowledge of cars in general. For those who knew him personal it's still surreal that he's no more amongst us. |

I haven't been as active on this forum as some times in the past, unfortunately. Quite a remarkable person, Dackelone, taken from us way too soon. I also enjoy the camaraderie here, and thanks for your kind comments, Nacho!

I can't believe Dack is gone. I may not know him personally or was ever close to him but I truly appreciate all his help and participation to all of us forum members. He is a 1addict.
What a great guy he was. |

I am thankful for this forum and everybody here always posting content. Even before I got my 1M I was on here staring at people's cars and dreamt of the day I could get one. I am on this forum daily always looking to see if someone's got a new post, as minuscule as it may be, it didn't matter. I would love to see more pics and videos! I'm going try to do better to post more once I get some driving in. We are all lucky to be living the lives we have; you never know what tomorrow brings and you certainly don't want to get old regretting you didn't do that 'one thing'. We're also all lucky to have such amazing cars..seriously..just because newer cars come out and ours gets older, it doesn't make it any worse. It will always be a special car. |

Haven't been here in a while but caught the news on the forum main page. Dackelone was the inspiration for my European trip - I rented an M2 and did several of the passes he documented. A life long memorable trip for me and my son. RIP Dackelone.

In the words of the TS: “He was a genuine, generous good man”. A car enthousiast and the original 1addict. David also had an addictive personality, in that once you met him, you would always be looking forward to meeting again. Unfortunately that’s no longer possible. Thanks buddy, for sharing you kindness, passion and wisdom. RIP

RIP mate. I always looked up to him as a knowledgeable and kind, generous chap who always wanted to give something to the community and I always enjoyed the insight into automotive life in his part of the world. Sad news

Very tragic about Dackelone.
Spoke to him many times privately as well—-one of the nicest people here.

In Honor of Dackelone - Thank
Very sad indeed. Dackelone went out of his way to source me a Minichamps BSM model way back in the day when our cars were first released. I still have the box he sent it in from Germany and some special Bavarian trinkets he sent along sitting on a shelf in my office with my other 1M memorabilia.
Actually this is the number two passing for me this week after a work colleague. Such is the time we live in in 2020... |

Dackelone, also known as David, was an amazing guy! A true enthusiast that will be forever missed.
It's still hard to put into words but he and I, along with a bunch of other European 1Addicts like Artemis Grey Dove Elsabor67 Swadeness markymark666 comar1979 JK135i 135i OREO Mr Kleen and a bunch of others, traveled through almost all the mountain passes between French Alps and Slovenian Triglav Park, to include southern Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and everything in between. Thousands of miles together. David had the ability to remember curves and twisties, dropping names and locations of mountain passes like they were outside his small German town. I will forever remember our drives! RIP my friend!

Dackelone was the best. When I joined this forum back in 2011 his posts about the 1M were always so helpful. And since then I've loved his museum tours, enjoyed (vicariously and with much envy) the driving tours he organized, and appreciated his countless contributions to our forum. It was several months (maybe years) before I realized David had a 135i -- he was a fellow 1 Series guy coming over to the 1M section out of the goodness of his heart to build and help our community here. I'm looking forward to hopefully making it over to Europe to drive some of Dack's tour routes so I can properly remember our friend. |
