Cleared the pathway for new motor. Put subframe back in. My diesel hp28 is sitting on the trans jack waiting too. Adapter plate should be arriving soon. Engine comes in 2 days

That's sad. Hope she's ok.

Sorry for the loss, happy the wife is OK. Probably too late now but I would have liked to pull off the "year 1 of the 1" surround.

Good news: clutch stop is in, and damn what a difference it makes. Can't believe I put off the install for this long.

Bad news: went for a spirited drive and now get a metallic clang when I first start pressing the brake pedal and when going over bumps. Sound level is speed dependent, so I'm hoping that its my 112k mile suspension that's being refreshed in a few weeks. Checked the sway bar endlinks and I can twist both front endlinks with two fingers. Time to replace 'em?

Surprisingly similar to each other!

Do you have a /good/ set of headphones or ear buds? You don't get the deep sounds through crappy laptop or phone speakers... I have a video from when the system was installed and was still on the N54 mids with the secondary kittens.

Sounds MEAN. Were the windows up or down during that vid?

Gave 'er the best check up I could without a jack or ramps and it looks like the case is closed boys and girls. We're missing a caliper carrier bolt on the front driver's side. Torque your stuff down kiddos. 13 yr old suspension + 3rd world quality roads will have your bolts spinnin' right out.

Busy week.....

135i cluster installed to gain the Oil Temp gauge 👍. Free of the tamper dot 👍. Done locally if any Albertans are interested.

ProTools helped to achieve digital velocity now correctly displaying across all speeds when GPS compared, analog display is consistently 3 or 4 kilometres per hour high versus GPS....needle might have to get reoriented.

V001 tune flashed & adaptations reset - hunting idle rpm is gone, limp mode seems to have been eliminated relative to torque peaks 👍.

Muffler swapped from 3” to 2.5”. Custom exhaust (headers/3”merge/3”race cat/3” resonator/2.5” muffler) is loud, but NOT annoying.....first autocross on Tuesday night - we’ll see if it blows through the local dB limits 🤷.

Today....

Installed new pads and drilled rotors. Porterfield R4-S pads, Bimmerworld brass caliper bushings and new sliders all around. Deleted brake wear sensors.

Took it for a rip to seat the pads, then a casual drive and then some aggressive slowdowns to get a feel for what they should be like at upcoming autocross events. First impressions are positive, but given that it’s a daily we’ll see how annoyed I get with regular relubricating of the sliders

After all that work I'm looking forward to you're results from the auto-x! I think the 2.5" should give just the bit of back pressure needed for good torque...

Happy father's day to all!
Enjoy time with family, life is precious!

I spent 3 hours yesterday doing the OFHG at 68k miles so I could enjoy today. Hopefully this gasket can last to 170k…

I called my local BMW dealer and was quoted $750 to do the job.

Got around to doing my stainless braided brake lines. If it weren't for the mid-circuit lines by the rear subframe, the job would take an hour. Got it all bled and calibrated with INPA though, feels great!

Went with Techna-Fit lines based on this thread

That's been the daily price at Amazon for a while. That's the price I would've paid if I hadn't known about the Prime Days.

Ejected a CD.

Doesn't sound like much, I know, but my CD player hasn't worked since I bought the car two years ago. I didn't know that at the time, inserted a CD and... nothing. Wouldn't play, wouldn't eject. OK, no biggie. Then last week the CD started playing... I thought I hit AUX but actually selected CD. And today it actually ejected. It's both wonderful and a bit disconcerting that it fixed itself.
