If somebody here just bought this car... Cursing that person is very, very short of what I actually feel right now.

Short version (because I have to vent somewhere and have nothing here to punch): Car was sold from out under me despite having an appointment to pick it up today. Dealership (Toyota) doesn't take deposits, "only way to guarantee it is to buy it", and I couldn't make that happen remotely. I was en route 25 min from the dealership when they called.
