Battery Registration.
Got myself a AGM battery to replace the my old BMW Acid battery.
Everything went smoothly up until registration. I am getting this message when I attempt to register the new battery “no communication with ibs or engine” My scanner tool is a Autophix 7910 if that matters. It comes with battery registration. On a 2009 135i Coupe. |

I recently replaced the stock battery in my wife's 2007 328i with a BMW AGM because the flooded battery was out of stock at BMW and the AWD was showing voltage faults at the diff control. My techs told me I'd have to program the car to recognize the AGM, which we did even though the AH range didn't exactly match up. I find it hard to believe that your scanner wouldn't at least recognize the connection, but I don't know. I've used my Foxwell scanner to register at least four BMW batteries recently but not an AGM.

After a bit of reading, I think I have to change the battery type in my tool. After that I can register it as a new battery.
Can someone confirm this? if so, I have to buy a new scanner. Oh boy! How exiting. |
