CIC retrofit first time installer! HIFI upgrade, Could do with some advice :)
Hi All
I own a lovely e87 118d m sport, which came with the boring standard business head unit and basic speaker setup So i decided to overhaul the whole system and retrofit a CIC professional idrive system from scratch having never done it before. Yea didnt realise the amount of work involved! Please see all the pictures of my progress so far: I am slowly collecting all the things i need to complete the install, along the way i am learning how it all goes together and connects. I am stuck on a few things though, one is the wiring harness i am trying to make. I want to make sure i get this right and all the wires a connected to all the write places. Anyway ill be putting together my experiences and updating this thread as i go along to help others like me who want to try to do this themselves! |

Could someone help me with the wiring? Making my own harness and want to check its all correct. I am stuck on the combox wiring, need to know the pin locations and where they go! i.e pin 1 = positive power pin 2 = negative ground power pin 12 = mic ? pin 25 = mic ? Is that all i need, or do i need more connections? Thanks in advance! |

cic installed!
Good to go! I have now fully installed and coded the combox and cic into my car! Took me along time and countless hours of research. As you will see in the pictures i placed the combox under the dash on the passenger side instead of the rear boot. It actually fitted snug and perfectly, saved me time leading long wires and MOST cables to the boot ;O). Ive just posted pics in no particular order to give you an idea of what i got up to! I will be putting together a step by step guide for others like me who want to do this as i didn't get much help, a great learning experience and very proud of what i achieved. Any questions feel free to PM me. [/quote] |

Wow, that looks really nice and neat. I've got the business HU myself and looking to upgrade it. Could you provide and estimated cost for the CIC retrofit (parts needed only)? Cheers

looks fine, but your installation of the GPS antenna is a no-go!
Any & all GPS antennas must be installed horisontale, since it is the signal differance between the sattelites that posistion the car! Easy solution would be to place it just below the A-pillar on the surface there. //Chris |
