Thx Oz. Actually, that thread was already included in the HPFP failure section with a reference to a knock sensor issue.

However, for a better overview I divided similar phenomena in three (sub)sections (issues #5a|#5b|#5c): HPFP failure, knock sensor issue and charge pipe issue. The subsequent enlisted issues of the list were renumbered.

No one is really gonna be seeing those kinds of speeds - except for maybe a few car nuts over here. Like me. And my hood has been holding up just fine above 280 kph on my "tuned" 135i.
My car is de-ristricted and after a long drive on the autobahn at speeds of 180+mph the front end is looking sorry for itself.
The front wings have been bent out slightly and i can fit my finger in the gap between the top of the lights and the shut line where the wings meet.
atleast the bonnet (hood) stayed down i guess..

Has been an ongoing and worldwide issue for E9xM3 and 1M racers using stock brake pads. Have been through three sets of brake pads and three sets of rotors after less than 10000km, and unfortunately there are many others affected.

Yeah, Dackelone brought the same question up in a separate thread in the chassis sub forum and I just replied (just summarizing) "never heard of...doesn't mean it didn't happen or won't happen though".

I assume you are also asking the broken differential bolts issue and not regular differential noises.

If it really is a production related defect at least on some cars I would expect this to appear sooner or later with some 1Ms too. Vice versa doesn't make sense...of course unless for some reason BMW used different bolts in 1Ms which is probably not even possible and as a whole the differential and all its components are interchangeable between the two cars.

Let's wait and see. In the mean time I will be checking my differential soon

Exclamation Engine Fault !

While driving experiencing loss of power and after a while get the message:

"Engine Fault!
Full Engine power no longer available.
Possible to continue journey.(..)"

After arriving home, checked error code ECU P3OFF

Due to a change in realOEM.com most links to part # in the log (first post) were broken.

Links are now updated and operational again.

My diff is grinding when doing right turns. It's been getting worse for the last month. Will try the "liquid" solution soon.

Added "hood lift at high speed (>220kph|>135mph)" as issue #18 to the list (actually a normal phenomenon rather than an issue).

I've been getting this 'pinging' sound when my car is moving. I can't reproduce if I lift the car up and roll each wheel individually. I failed to check the dust shields when I had the car off the ground, but rolling the wheels should have tested for this, right?

Here's what it sounds like. This is actually two sound clips in one. One of them I have the Akra flap open and the second I closed it to help record the sound. I had the phone out the window --- it isn't normally that loud, but loud enough that I can hear it when I go past an object at slow speeds.

Thoughts?

Add one more HPFP to the failure log. Mine crapped out at just under 10K miles.

Engine Malfunction! Reduced Power!

From the moaning sound it was making, I guessed cracked charge pipe, but the dealer replaced the HPFP under my Extended "Warrantee". They even had one in stock, which tells you something about the reliability of this item...

And three months later, the charge pipe boot popped off at the top (I did have a mild Cobb tune on the car). Surprisingly, the dealer offered to do the labor if I wanted to replace the OEM with a metal charge pipe, which is going on at 11,000 mile service this week.

Just wanted to bring this thread back to life lol Our beloved 1M have the leaky coolant problems like most other n54 engines. Plastic connectors they use became brittle and will crack, the plastic connector to the cylinder head thermostat crack and came apart after I found out car was leaking fluid. Now i smell burnt oil and it seems to seep down from somewhere to the exhaust, and found some info that it may be from valve cover gasket.

Last time I had a similar sound was when something got trapped in the rear brake shield.
