Hello!
So I recently bought a 2011 year 123d e87 with the N47 (204ps /400nm) engine, I have been trying to find out, what gearbox oil and differential oil I need exactly and i just can't seem to find a 100% answer. So could anyone recommend me, what brand should I look for and what specifications should I look out for or what have You used on your cars personally? Also if anyone has any good pages to look up information related to this, would also love to know! Thaaanks! ![]() |

Red Line 75W-90 for the differential. If you have an LSD, be sure to use the one with the friction additive (literally just 75W-90); if you don't, you can use the 75W-90NS or the 75W-90. Mo' additives better in any case, I suppose.
Edit: Doesn't have to be Red Line, I suppose. I've seen BMW's own recommended too. |

Same issue I am having with the gearbox oil, seems like I need to go for 75w-90, but they still have different specifications, like MTF-LT-2, MTF-LT-4 and so on. Sorry for all these newbie questions, just freshly getting into maintaining my cars and want to make sure I know what to look for. |

Excellent and long discussion on gearbox oil here: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...oly+grail+gear.
And yes, no LSD means you can use either for your diff. |
