Rattle noise on slow turns
Hi All! I'm new here!
Trying to get some advice here. When I'm in a parking lot pulling out from a parking spot or at home pulling out from my driveway. I can hear noise when my steering wheel is turn 40%+ or more in either direction, and either forward or reverse. But at higher speed like doing an on ramp, it doesn’t have any noise. Any suggestions where I should look into first? I was gonna start with steering fluid? steering rack? tie rod? Thanks in advance! |

Most common areas to look are the strut mounts, tie-rod ends, or anti roll bar end links. Power steering pump/fluid is typically a humming type of noise.

PS pump typically don't rattle when it's on the way out though, but in extreme cases I guess it could.

For my experience...
I am experiencing a very noticeable rubbing noise when lock to lock turning at low speed. The noise is actually coming from the rear LSD/diff....but you think it's from the front wheels, I'll try to explain...similar to the speaker resonant reflection principle. Could aware need to change fluid on the M diff. This issue are happen on E9x M3 as well. you could searching about this. |
