Unhappy Please help, 2008 e88 135i conv rear subframe brace???

Hey i bought a 2008 135i conv and the rear subframe brace is missing so the rear end slides around even though the tires are not spinning, i believe the main issues are the brace missing the shocks leaking and the subframe bushing are shot but i want to start with the shocks and the brace. I have had zero luck finding a brace that will fit and yes ive looked for stock and aftermarket options. please help if you can

Hey, welcome.

That's an odd part to be missing. Any chance it wasn't ever there? I really don't know either way, but not all models got all of the things.

There used to be a number of aftermarket options. Hotchkis, etc. Have you not found anything at all, or just nothing in stock because our cars are getting older? You might find an OEM part for sale online, or even at a junkyard.

I bet if you replace the bushings you'll see a huge improvement. Don't go stock, go at least M3 or choose from a number of solid inserts available.

Might have an alignment issue too. Bad toe angles can make really strange things happen as the rear tires kind of "take turns" being the one that points forward. It could be that simple.

There are several parts you could be talking about. Maybe take a picture?

I don't suspect that any of those would be causing the issue you described if they were missing. Do the shocks and an alignment and see how she goes.

I thought I saw some extra bracing on the rear of vert 1er while browsing bring-a-trailer, can any of it apply to the coupes?

I do not think the vert has any more bracing than the coupe. The springs and roll bars are probably different though.

Oh interesting. That is not on the coupe. I don't see what that would mount to on a coupe though, maybe the subframe and/or chassis are different? The V shaped grey pieces above the rear of that brace are also not on the coupe.

Yeah it had me curious at least. Does the M3 or 1M get any additional bracing? underbody that is.

Nope.

Edit: not in the rear. The M3 subframe does have two extra mount points, and a stiffener bolted on it.
