Yes indeed. ... $$$$, and more $$$$ if you are in my part of the world. That is why I chose not to go down the OEM route.

This is a link to the product the part number references: http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E36-M3-S52_3.2L/ES164039/ And see here as well for DIY method: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...99&postcount=6 However, I do not believe that the halogen eyebrow illuminates, I was told it was only xenon that had the LED strip.

Haha don't sweat it. I was planning on buying halogen LCI's and swapping the glass with my Pre-LCI xenons until I was told that.

The BMW published instructions list headlight washers as a requirement but it looks like there are a few cars in this thread without them. Are they a requirement in terms of getting the headlights to work or are they merely a state/country law in some regions?

In Europe, xenon-equipped cars are required to have headlight washers as well, as it is felt that dirty lenses may contribute to a dazzling effect for oncoming drivers. AFAIK the same requirement does not exist in US cars, as the 128i only got headlight washers with the Cold Weather Package, and xenons could be optioned independently of the CWP.

If your car was stock Halogen equipped you may want to call a local dealer to ensure you have the right equipment. There are a few threads including this one that have some wiring instructions embedded in the many posts.. however, the headlights are not PnP and require you to buy a few other expensive pieces of equipment to retrofit.

additionally the light control module (FRM on the E chassis) will most likely either need to be changed or coded. if you don't do this yourself or know someone who knows how it will cost a pretty penny as well. Sourcing the parts for a good price was actually the easiest part of the job good luck! I think this job is more documented on the F platform forums

So can anyone point me to what the wiring modifications necessary for converting pre-LCI halogens to pre-LCI xenons are?
I'm having trouble finding a solid answer. I've heard of pin 2 and 4 bridging and pin 5 and 6, but is that on the wiring harness side (male) or the headlamp socket side (female)? Thanks. |

2011 bmw e82
Hi Guys
I am new to this forum and I am following posts on the Halogen to Xenon retrofit on a BMW E82. I am from South Africa and I recently bought this car for my everyday runner, however I am not satisfied with the standard halogen headlights There are several posts on the conversion from halogen to LCI Xenons. I am not sure what to do exactly. I have tried something else, maybe you can help me. On the plug side, I added pin 2 and bridged it with pin 4, which is the negative. I added pin 5 and bridged with pin 6 for the shutter, and I added pin 7 and bridged with pin 1 for the eyebrow LED So, the angel eyes and eyebrows light up, and the shutter opens and closes when you switch the brights. The only thing is that the low beam is not coming on. Do I have to make another wire change, or will the low beam only work after coding? Your help will be much appreciated. T |
