Wiring Diagram

Can anyone point me to a wiring diagram for a 2012 135i? The only source I have been able to find is a 2GB ISO file at https://www.bimmer-service.com/. Unfortunately, I have not been able to decode this image. If someone has instructions for doing so, I would be grateful for that too.

The driver's seat in my car is not getting power and I am trying to figure out whether there is anything besides replacing Junctionbox Electronics (JBBF) that I can do to try and troubleshoot.

If the file isn't corrupt, you should be able to mount the ISO to look at the files. From file explorer, go to where the ISO file is saved. Right click on the file to get the pop up menu. You should see an option to mount the file. Once you do this, another window will open with the files embedded in the ISO. You can also burn a DVD using the ISO if you have a blank DVD-R and a DVD drive capable of writing to DVD-Rs.

Doesn't this require special software, like MagicISO or Alcohol120? I tried with those two, but did not get anywhere... Or are you saying that Windows should be able to mount the ISO without any additional software?

Yes. The later versions of Windows have native support to mount ISOs. Windows 10 has it. And I'm sure 7 and 8 also.

The downloaded file is a .rar. Uncompressing produces a .mdf. My Windows 10 machine does not recognize this format and there is no "mount" option in the context menu.

May I suggest you join BMWCCA and then you'll have access to Mike Miller, their tech guru who knows most answers, and for those he doesn't, knows the people who do.

Hi NorthernDancer. Thank you for the suggestion. I actually am a member of BMW CCA, have been for many years. However, I am not aware of this "tech guru" benefit -- can you please educate me as to how that works?

Ah, you are referring to Mike Miller who writes the Tech Talk column for Roundel... Duh, should have recognized the name. He suffered a traumatic brain injury a year ago. https://fscbmwcca.com/tech-talk-writ...-use-our-help/ I wonder how he is doing now...

You said the file is an ISO. That's the guidance I provided. Windows does not support rar files. But it appears you were able to unpack the rar file. I have no idea what an mdf file would be for.

zx10guy -- bimmer-service.com lists this file as an ISO image and, as iminhell1 pointed out, MDF is a type of an ISO image. Or an SQL database, but that's out of context here.

iminhell1 -- yes, I've seen that page before. As pointed out in the 3rd post in this thread, I tried both MagicISO and Alcohol120 to decode this MDF file. I was unsuccessful. My 16 yo son, who builds gaming rigs for fun, also tried to decode it and was also unsuccessful. Although, with him, it is difficult to tell how hard he actually tried.

I appreciate that you guys are trying to help, but you should at least assume that people posting to this forum are able to type things into the Google search box.

I think my next step is to get ISTA+ up and running. I believe it includes wiring diagrams.

Apologies for a belated update. Ended up needing to take the car to a mechanic for another issue. The problem with the seat turned out to be missing fuse 46. I have absolutely no idea how a fuse went missing all of a sudden, the socket is nice and tight, but somehow it did. I only recall pulling one fuse, 45, in that location when checking whether any were bad. A complete head scratcher...

Since not all fuses listed on the fuse diagram are populated for any given car, I had no way of knowing that one was missing without either a wiring diagram or the experience of a mechanic who has worked on thousands of cars...

Just so you all know, I was able to get to the data in the linked ISO file. Once you have it downloaded, all you need to do is change the file extension from .MDF to .ISO

I was attempting to use software to convert the MDF file to an ISO, but the program informed me that the file was already compatible with the ISO format and recommended changing the file extension. I did that and was able to mount the ISO file on my Windows 10 machine. Once mounted, there are installation instructions for what appears to be a BMW software that runs in Internet Explorer 11 to display wiring diagrams. I haven't fully installed the software yet, once I get home I will give that a shot and let you know how it goes.
