Brake Light Replacement Help 128i LCI

Hello everyone,

Recently discovered a new error code on my 1er with the code CC-ID 134 where my right brake light has gone out. I have a 2012 128i, not sure if the bulbs are different from the pre-lci models.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with aftermarket led brake lights and if you could drop some links as I am in the market to purchase some.

Any suggestions are appreciated! Cheers

If you go with aftermarket LEDs, you're probably going to want to code them out of the CANbus, otherwise you'll likely get errors and annoying flickering as the CANbus system tests them. IIRC, you can code out just the brake lights while still monitoring the others.

Gonna give these ones a shot from Amazon.

Do you think they’ll work they look pretty similar to the ones you linked.

Installed yesterday evening!

Had some flickering issues at the start.

Ended up plugging and playing around with the OBD using BimmerCode.

First I changed the brake lights to LED bulbs. That didn’t work.

Second I changed check system for the brake light to "non active". Still had some flickering from the bulbs on start.

Lastly I changed brake force display to LED and it seemed to have fixed the flickering.

Overall bulbs seem marginally brighter then stock, but nothing extremely noticeable. The real test is so see how they can last!
