Squeal on deceleration
Can anyone help identify this noise?
https://youtube.com/shorts/thOWC2qHR...n86UoLBQQoFS5V It's a dolphin sounding squeal that only occurs on deceleration, only when the car is fully warmed up after 1/2 hour+ of driving, and still only happens sometimes, not all the time, hard to replicate. It's not brakes because those are new and that's not where the sound is coming from... it's not likely belts as it doesn't make the noise at any other time, just on deceleration - I replaced the serpentine belt last summer because of belt squeal on startup. Some initial researching suggested that the PCV could have failed, creating a squealing sound through the front main seal. I replaced the PCV on the top of the valve cover last summer and that seemed to work for a while, but the sound came back this year. I didn't replace the full valve cover itself and wouldn't be surprised if some of the other gaskets/flaps in the valve cover failed so I'm leaning to towards trying that next, but don't want to waste my time/money if there's another slam-dunk answer... TIA. |

Are you running a jb4? My car did the same when i was using one. Some kind of fuckery was causing a bunch of crank case vacuum and pulling air through the main seal. Pulled it off and it went away. I run mhd no problem now and caution people away from jb4
