Reliability Issues with Turbo/Twin Turbo Engines?

Does anyone know if there are common or chronic reliability issues that arise from turbo or twin turbo engines versus naturally aspirated engines?

While I am definitely leaning toward the 135i, I plan on being a long-term 1-Series owner (well beyond the warranty period), so the answer to my question may sway me toward the NA 128i.

Aside from factory issues, turbo equipped cars only suffer when poorly maintained and driven by the owner.

Turbo cars always have a slightly higher chance of breaking down due to the larger number of components involved.

Let's put a call into our admins to move this to the 135i Turbo forum in this section.

I put the thread here on purpose becuase there are more readers in this section that can provide input than there are in the Turbo section.

Relax man, its an internet forum. There is plenty of overlap between the sections, especially with regards to photos.

You know i saw a 335cp in service the other day (one of the first sold) it had a little under 50K miles on it and had blowen turbos but there are two things ill add, i happen to know that this customer BEATS THE CRAP outa his cars (i mean beats them, track time etc..) and 2nd.. if you are the orig owner get it certifed for the further 2 years 50k miles thats 6 years or a 100,000 miles of worry free driving (shouldnt cost you more then $1200-$1500+ tires etc..)

my two cents..

Good call re: extended warranty... Audi includes it in their CPO program. Last year, I passed on a new A4 wagon for the wife in lieu of a nearly identical one with 6k miles on it, simply to get a 100k mile warranty.
