If true (and Scott has a habit of being right) then the tii would be an intriquing option. So I guess that we should plan for some more waiting then, if we're interested in the tii. That's just peachy!

Oh, I am ready for a lot more waiting. Still, I am really excited to see the 1er this weekend at the LA Auto Show.

But - should I be looking at a Z51 C6 Corvette too? Yup, suspect so after the latest updates. |

The Cayman S isn't competition. It's a radically better car all around. And much more expensive. And worth it to some. I look forward to driving them back to back and deciding if the Cayman or 911 is worth the difference. Right now I am leaning away from the 135i. Understeer, vague steering, pork, and probable engine glitches are too much of a downer at any price.

That is a great car. My daily commuter is a regular civic and I love it but I need something more fun for my weekend car.

Still, I don't quite understand how anyone could be taken by surprise by this pricing. Yes, I know that some of the auto rags speculated about a $26K 128i and a $31K 135i, but those magazines are notoriously unreliable and such pricing was never realistic as was pointed out by the numerous folks on this very board who have been trying to rationally discuss the price for months. My guess is that the 1er coupe will sell VERY WELL in the U.S. at these prices. |

Basically you want something fast ( 0-60 < 5seconds), handles great, good looking and less than 30k. I really don't see a new stock car with these criteria and meet your MSRP requirement. You may be able get a EVO or STI at low 30s for base price (32-33k I dont know the pricing on them) but I wouldn't say the 135i is so overpriced. It's only 2-3k more than its competitor. Otherwise you have to make some concession on the requirements. A g37 optioned to the spec I want (sports + nav) comes out around 45-46k as well. 135i has the potential to be a 350-400hp for 500-1200 dollars more. That by itself is a great bargain. I am sure you can do that with the EVO and STI and that's why they are on my shopping list as well. But I really dont want to be associated as a boy racer.

Although Honda makes some of the best FWD's in the world, they are still FWD. RWD just feels better in my hands. YMMV. |

As for all the people whining and saying that people expected it to be less..... the realistic ones didn't. The 28 is a little higher than i expected and the 35 is right where I thought it would be.
