DTC Button
Can someone quickly tell me the settings for this button? If I push it once do I enable or disable DTC? And when I hold the button I get the triangle explanation point...I'm assuming that means traction control is off correct? Thanks

i've seen people argue about this on other forums for a lot time.
for sure, if you hold the button it turns everything off except e-lsd. if you press once, it flashes DTC. The manual says this turns on the dynamic traction control which is a type of restricted DSC mode which in fact reduces stability and/or traction control. Stay with me here, this is bmw logic. the only part i haven't figured out is the and/or part. i've read posts where people claim it reduces stability control leaving traction control on. and they do some drifting in the mode to prove it. but the manual says the DTC mode is for driving on snow. Which makes me think it turns off traction control leaving stability control on. Or, perhaps it reduces the functionality of both types of control.

Don't worry about the repost. I hadn't read the old post so I was happy to get the information.

Press the DTC button again briefly. The indicator lamp for DTC lights up steadily to show that DTC is activated, and DSC is deactivated. This is the state you want if you're driving uphill on snow-covered roads, in slush or on unplowed, snow-covered roads, when rocking a stuck vehicle free, or starting off in deep snow or on loose ground, or when driving with snow chains.
yep this is exactly what the manual says. but this doesn't answer the question of what exactly the car is doing. Is the car disabling traction control leaving stability control on or the other way around or is it just loosening up on both systems.
