License plate
Hi all, got a quick question, any of you know if in Washington state, do you need both the front and black license plate? I am hoping I can do without the front one on this car.

You are supposed to have a front & rear plate in both Washington and Oregon. That being said, I've lived in Oregon for the past 2 years and have yet to mount a front plate. I haven't had any tickets, but I did have a parking officer tell me that they were going to start ticketing parked cars without front plates.

Here's an FAQ from the Washington State Patrol, which includes a section on license plates and the applicable RCW:
http://www.wa.gov/wsp/traveler/cvd/cvdfaq.htm Here's some sort of online petition to have this part of the law removed: http://www.petitiononline.com/wafrtplt/petition.html |

wenyong88, I see that you got a Montego Blue; I have one on order right now with the same color too... darn, was hoping to be "unique". So, are there ways to place front plate so that it won't look too ugly?

Lol when will your production date be? Don't worry, our color still rare enough. At least we know who it is when two blue passing thru.
Some ppl put it on the front corner and think it looks better, I personally think that look even worse. There aren't any other choice unless you willing to risk taking it off. Most of the time I don't think they'll pull you off because of that, but it depends on that cop's mood.

It looks like you will have your 1 at least a month ahead of me. Lucky!! I think I'll put up the plate. As much as I hate what the plate is going to do with my baby, I hate dealing with cops even more. |

Did your dealer agent tell you the production date for your slot? Yes BMWUSA is really a out dated source for production tracking, try the 1-800 number if you haven't, they updated the same date as my production start, which is exactly what my agent show me when I ordered my car.

I wouldn't be putting a front plate on if it wasn't for the Good2Go pass, or whatever it's called. I'm not sure how the HOT lanes work, but on the Narrows Bridge, they take like 9 photos every time you pass through. I'm pretty sure no front plate would end up being a ticket.

This is the best option that I've found. Courtesy of lib who posted this elsewhere.

Contact your agent might get a better idea on the date, or try talk to the rep thru that number. The automatic answer system will only update right on or the day after your production start.

Around 2.5 weeks. You should contact your agent, because he put you on a production slot when you placed your order, that will going to be your production start date.
