anyone imported into CA or AZ?
I'm going to order a 135i from pentagon car sales but I was wondering if anyone knows about the taxes I will have to pay. I'm ordering through the military car sales. I havent decided if I'm going to pick up in california or deliver to AZ. Depends on if I can dodge some of the taxes. I will have been out of the country for a year so maybe that will allow me to not pay as much taxes?

AZ tax info - Military import
mprhead,
I am also importing my 135i I ordered while stationed in the UK to Arizona. She is currently on the boat and I can tell you that the closest you are going to get the car to AZ is the LA or San Diego port. Even BMW will not ship inland, just to the ports. I got in contact with the AZ DMV and they told me via e-mail... " An Arizona resident would not be exempted from use tax by first registering the vehicle outside of Arizona. The Arizona Department of Revenue has informed us in the past that a vehicle purchased directly from one of the military Exchanges would be exempt from Arizona use tax since the Exchange is an agency of the federal government and the U. S. Constitution prohibits a state from imposing a tax upon the federal government." Hope that helps you out. |
