Black interior question?
I have yet to see the black interior in person, my local dealers only have gray and beige cars in stock
Anyway, what I am wondering is if the black interior is really black or is it more gray? All of the pictures I have seen online seem to make the black interior look lighter than black, almost grayish. What do you black interior owners think? Is it really black or is it lighter (grayish), and are you happy with the color of your black interior? Thanks |

For instance, the black leather interior of our e31 850i is much shinier and therefore appears to be darker than that in the e90. Also, the grain in the e90 is more pronounced and, I think, richer looking. In the e90, the black leather is just slightly lighter than the black plastic dash. Indeed, when you order the correct carpeted floormats for the black interior, the color you get is Anthracite, not Black. While you REALLY have to find a live example to check out, I can say that the Black Leather, Aluminum Trim, Gray Headliner combo in my wife's car is stunning. Mike

I agree with Kimo. The interior is like a light black, if that makes any sense. I have leatherette, so I can't speak for the leather owners, but I never considered the interior a dark grey. It is black. As far as how rich it is, it depends on the material, but you will not consider it anything other than black when you see it in person.
If I had the choice again, I would almost definitely choose black. But that terra/silver combination gets my attention sometimes. I'd choose the black, but I'd have to spend 1/2 hour in the terra to just make sure I made the right choice again. |

The black is beautiful! I have black leather and I wouldn't have it any other way. Kimo explained it well. It isn't absolute black...more of a "charcoal-ish" black.
Awesome, though! |

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have been to Savage and BMW of Riverside, both dealers had only gray and beige (and one terra) on the lot. I guess I will just have to go stop in again and see if they have any now, it has been a couple weeks since I was there. jkwakopo says that his is getting dirty fast, has anyone else noticed their black getting dirty faster than normal? |

black interior
I originally ordered terra, but switched to black with aluminum trim. I've added aluminum pedals and footrest; the combination of black (or charcoal) leather and metal trim looks great. The al. trim ties in with the instrument bezels and the door handles, creating a unified look.
Wood trim works best with either beige or gray interior, but I would not recommend beige as it is the worst interior colour for resale. In short, go with black; it looks classy and it's easy to clean with a damp cloth. |

The black/TIAG combo is sweet, while the floor does need to be vacumed fairly often it's worth it to hide the stains from my shoes.
I have had grey and tan in the past and the floor and doors always got filthy and I am a pretty clean person. Jesse |

I've got black sapphire w/black leather. I really like the shade of deep grey/black. It contrasts slightly with the exterior for a very nice look. Also the Sprt steering wheel matches the seats perfectly.

It's definitely not dark black (whatever that means) but I think it looks great!
I drove my family's X5 before and it's definitely an improvement from the grey leather

Black is Light Black
I have the Black "leatherette". It really is a lighter black than the externior of the vehicle, but definitely is black. The leatherette also feels very much like real leather, in fact, many people cannot tell the difference.

Black 'ette cleans up prety well with just a damp cloth. I wipe the back of the seats, and the door corners with the wet chamois while I am wiping the sills after washing. I rode in a tan car and everywhere I had touched my shoe, there was a mark. Don't know how well that would clean and not show. Black 'ette witht eh grey headliner and wood look pretty good. I was afraid it might get too hot, but as long as the sunroof is cracked on warm days, it hasn't been too bad.

I have black leather... it's black or extreamly vary dark gray! But has gray headliner too which I thought would be black too! Figured the Gray would be too light and get dirty too fast! But the black is showing dust and dirt too oh well!

all interiors look great, i like all of them. I have black leather myself and finds it shows dust and other marks (like makeup from girlfriend on the other hand, every car i've ever been in that has a light tan or grey interior shows black marks from shoes/clothes/briefcase- and there harder than hell to get out. Black for me has been the easiest to maintain. Plus i like how the light headliners and pillars contrast with the black leather.

Black leather is awesome. This is the third time i've done Black and in my opinion it looks strong and very masculine. I won't ever get any other interior color, i just wish BMW offered the anthracite headliner i had in my X5.

Having seen it up close, even though they call it black I would call it anthracite - it looks like a dark charcoal grey. Still very nice though. In the Mercs they are now offering "real" black, which is darker and a bit shinier. Hard to say which is nicer. I reckon anthracite is probably easier to keep clean.
