One thing I think being thrown around a bit too much is that this will allow a lot more folks into ///M, be entry-level and cost feasible. Guys, this is going to be upper $40K's to start and probably mid $50K's optioned well. In this economy, I beleive it will still be somewhat exclusive. In demand, yes, but still an expensive luxury-priced german car.

Wow the more I look at this thread, the more it psyches me into getting an M1!

Well I know one thing is for sure--the little tidbits and information that Scott has been dropping around here has produced the right result--you have people with 135s, 335s, and M3s talking about this car...
And we really haven't seen it yet....I just really hope that it 1) delivers the goods, and 2) doesn't take 2 years to get to the US.... It also really feels like this car is going to end up pushing 60K easily.....

Nice options list. But is it all really necessary? I just hope they take out the moonroof, rain sensing wipers, and RFT...and make them optional. I loved my 1982 320iS...stripped to the bone except for Recaros and BBS wheels.

I doubt the M1 will be on Geneve.
If the car goes on sale in 2011 i think it s bit early. Mostly you see prototypes driving around we have seen nothing in camoflage. Only a 135i with same wide arches and carbon roof in sedona red. |

A very good point because it would be early, but I thought the rumor was that we may see a concept at Geneva.

BMW has been pretty sneaky lately; they pulled a fast one with the M3 GTS. Only seen in one public sighting during a manufactuer test session at the ring. BMW ///M does extensive testing at the ring on all ///M models. The most we can hope for is a concept mockup at Geneva to hype the car a little while BMW is still developing it. Wait till spring comes we should see some ring sightings of the M1 be driven on the ring.

Due to the cost of federalization it is highly unlikely the Extended vehicle option will be available in all markets as it does not justify clarification for the ltd series of production. Purely as it is JOY is indulgence is a visual concept information relating to the debate of whats underneath the bonnet etc will be given at a later date when the production car is introduced later this year. Additional cosmetic features for the engine bay will also be discussed later, no additional performance upgrades as the M1 will still sit under the M3 in terms of size and performance. Although a competition pack has been introduced for the M3 it is ineveitable that by 2012 2 years before the current car is replaced that a "Phase II" CS package will be available for the M3. Both M1 and the outgoing M3 will help phase in their respective replacements with the M1 resorting to four cylinders with the M3 inheriting an upgraded version of the engine that will be found in the (E82) M1. |

Thanks Scott--you are always pitching in information at the right time.
Can't wait to see what will arrive at Geneva......
