I did not have the problem of oil shooting inside the belly pan. I did how ever, put some rags up in there, just in case. Only a wee bit got one of teh rags dirty. I think that was more from my hand not moving fast enough once the drain plug was ready to come off. lol I am kind of wondering IF Crzy4135i had his oil fill cap off - before he removed the drain plug? I left mine on until I got the oil plug loose and started to drain the oil out. Same goes for leaving the oil filter in place.
First I loosen the oil drain plug/bolt, then the oil filter housing, and then the oil fill cap get opened. I always stuff rags in open stuff too. Btw... I changed my oil first at 2,400 kms. I plan on doing it again at 5K kms, and then every three to four months or 10K kms. My car is a US spec car, but I leave the odo and klima in metric (kms & 'C) bc I am used to thinking in Metric! bye, David PS: Ianc, the oil will shoot over towards the passenger side. I did not use ramps, just a big floor jack and two jack stands. So my car was tilting towards the pas side anyways. Maybe this helped on the arc of the oil - as it drained out! lol |

But really, any oil shooting out when you remove the oil drain plug - is minimal! Just use a rag or two!! bye, David |

Sorry, I haven't had my car long enough to check for that, I just assumed there was a place for is like in my 09 B8 audi a4. Instead of a dipstick theres just a cap there and you check the oil level in the MFD. |

I did try putting my fluid evac tool (line) down the oil filter housing. I thought maybe it would have a hole that would lead downwards. But I did not find anything that worked. Maybe I gave up too soon. Will re-try on my next oil change. bye |

The oil does shoot out some, away from the drain plug - towards the passenger side of the car. I just used a small piece of cardboard as a deflector.
There is no way you can use an extractor from the oil filter to drain the oil from the engine. If you have to ask where the oil filter is, it would be best not to change the oil yourself. |

I did my first oil change this weekend and found another way to deflect the oil on my 135i vert. After opening the access panel I completely removed it from the hinge point. Then I put it back inside the hole in a way that the flap directed the oil flow down. If you position it correctly it will hang by itself. Then I removed the drain plug and let it go. The oil did hit the flap and would have gone in the belly pan as mentioned above. I was using drive up ramps so the front was elevated 10-12 inches. After draining the oil I took the flap down and wiped it off in 5 seconds using a shop towel and re-assembled everything. It worked perfectly and didnt require any extra parts

honestly I just pull drainplug until it starts running, let it do that for a bit, then take out the drainplug. I did the same thing with ramps etc, had 0 oil land anywhere outside where it was supposed to
