well - I appreciate the knowledge that manual windows have been designed for the 1 series; maybe my DELETE 1M will happen after all. some on this forum have given me contacts through BMW channels to see if this is a possibility - thanks, and I will keep you posted as I attempt the impossible with Munich. I think it is an exciting project if they are interested - maybe I am crazy though.

Just a side note, on the Exige/Elise, crank windows actually weigh more than power windows. I'd imagine it's true for any setup too, there's just more kit required for a manual setup. Hell, the Lotus even has drilled out window cranks.
I had an E46 Touring that had power front windows but crank rear windows as a rental car in Germany once. I'm still not sure what the logic was there, except to make buyers feel cheap, I suppose. |

There never has been any 1 series in Germany with manual front side windows. I checked the 2004 price list and even back then, the 116 hatch did have electric front windows. The part you're listing actually is the backdoor. Early pre facelift models did have manual rear windows (depending on model, for example the 116i), but that's the case no more. Finally, there never was an E82 Coupe in Germany with manual windows. Hope this helps to settle this and we can get back to topic. Best regards, south

For the end. There is plans for a limited run of a GTS Spec 1. in similar direction to the M3 GTS. It will use some of the ideas from the M3 GTS such as more pronounced aerodynamics , lightweight glass and a power boost.
But it will be like the M3 GTS and be offered to customers in Europe only. |

With respect. Would I be correct in thinking that this is because of the US DOT regulations which push up the costs significantly? Similar to the same reasons why the M3 GTS is not available in the US? - J

Does that mean the M1 GTS will have no rear seats and a roll cage? Are luxuries drop as well for the Euro market? How far after E82 M1 will it be launched or will it not be until new model? Cheers, Mark |

Thank Scott for the info on M1 GTS. But now, what? To wait for the M1 GTS? In fact I still prefere the idea of CSL than GTS, as CSL still has four places and is not that radical as GTS. But I would like the a GTS if is was a Z4 M / Z2 M. As there are anyway two seats, a roll cage will not deleat anything. |

@Scott26
Can you confirm that the turbo used in the M1 Flows more air/psi than in the current N55, is m1 turbo bigger than in the normal n55 motor? Basically I want to make sure it's gettting a bigger turbo and is not just an ecu recalibration upping the boost from a standard n55 motor. Last edited by Cornhusker; 04-20-2010 at 05:07 PM.. |

I belive the M1 will have the N54 variant. Not the N55. Unless something drastically change within the past week.

Thanks. I guess I got one of my rentals confused. Sorry for the mis-information. I would've swore on a stack of bibles they had them.

Scott says its a n55. It says so in the FAQ. I don't care which it is... as long as it's a mechanical upgrade, bigger turbos, and not just a remap... with a better intercooler exhaust etc.

Oh yeah, my bad N55 but with TWINS. I knew that. Hehe. Your first post mentioned a single turbo, which is what got me thinking.

I will try to get this end up to date by the end of the week.
I intended to do so this weekend but because of my visit to Milan on Friday I got stranded over this Volcano issue and ended up taking a courtesy car from BMW and drove back to Munich over the weekend. |
