The 1M looks great. I am a bit dissapointed on the high ride hight of the 1M. This car is just begging to be lowered. Love the curves in the above (orange 1M) photo!

what ever happened to that idea of a 1 series that you were going to be given the option to change components like brakes and stuff or have a CF hood? did they just decide to stick with an 1M?

Good manual only keeps some poseurs out. Not saying people prefer DCTs are poseur but people don't want to learn a manual to drive a 1M are.

DCT is an Automated Manual with Dual Clutch. One clutch handles all the Even Number gears and the other clutch handles the Odd Numbered. So, your right, not a good example. The dual clutch gearbox may need more room than a single clutch automated manual. However, I still back the conclusion that they are protecting the M3. Just my opinion. |

If you want to give the M3/DCT argument some credence - you should back it up with some projected 1M 0-60's etc, and what those figures might be with DCT.
You might find that the car is still safely under the M3's shadow.

Bimmerfile states that it will indeed come with a N54 engine.
But Scott said it will be a N55. So if Scott is right, all the other small info about the M1 from bimmerfile is just their own observations or is the rest trustworthy? Seems to me like they just read the forums and chose what sounds best. But i don´t know how they know the name of the color.. |

However, Take a look at the average 0-60 times for 135i DCT vs M3 M-DCT. Note the performance margin we are playing with. Now let's assume the 1M DCT is faster that the 135i DCT. I think it will be pretty close...maybe too close! |

i wonder if it will come with the competition wheels...or if they just put those on there because they haven't decided on a production wheel yet. personally i hope they stick with them because they look amazing. or atleast make them optional

I agree with this statement. It was one of my first thoughts when I heard no DCT. But I don't care the motivation, I just am about all MT, for once, every one for sale will be with the transmission I want, not 10% like most cars. |

135i DCT 4.6s (est, car and driver - manual is 4.7) 1M ????? M3 DCT 4.3s (manual is 4.4) Not sure how they can stop the 1M from looking better at first glance on paper, even with manual tranny, unless they want to make it looked gimped next to the 135i.

So let me ask this again. Will it come with a N54 like bimmerfile says or will it come with a N55 like Scott stated? |

Now there are statements that show that the car will have a version of the N54 twin turbo engine, not the N55. This is confirmed by the guys at Bimmerfile here. http://www.bimmerfile.com/2010/08/28...t-impressions/ Quote:

"Seems to me like they just read the forums and chose what sounds best" doesn't sound like a question to me.
