You all are blinded. It cant not be CF due to the fact that its a part of the car that actually is gonna be seen. I have yet to see BMW use a "CF looking" part on the exterior of a car. CF around the valance makes sense too. Its what most tuners do. And since this teaser car may be a fully loaded with Competition, it might have extra CF add-on. I dont see how anyone can look at that picture and say no to CF. The aluminum heat shield under there car ( center of that larger pictures ) clearly shows that the Aluminum dimples or whatever are much larger squares than the tightly woven CF.

BF says it is a modified N54. Well how is that really Hybrid?? It is the old engine tuned to make more power...which every other 135 owner in this forums do it with JB3

The N54 PLUS something else could make it a hybrid. Lets say this car is an N54. Do you honestly think it would be cheap or easy for all 135i drivers to duplicate whatever BMW is doing? I would not think so. At the end of the day we're going to end up with a MUCH stronger starting point. Would u rather JB3 a 135i or a 1M? Exactly. Would I rather them rush something together with the N55 or do something with the N54? I choose the N54. They've had 4+ years to know the ins and outs of that engine.

Being the first to reveal the actual name awhile back 1series M on this same forum... I'll give you the engine details and you can judge for yourself later. Based on the N54 with larger turbos and the HP will be ... you ready for this? 354 HP Info provided by same person to reveal name to me.

the power levels on the BMW modified N54 motors in the 335is make that car a very exciting to drive. If there are stock power levels around 350+ with a corresponding increase in torque, the 1 M coupe will be an fantastic drive, and earn a place in my garage!

I must say that, since the partial unveiling, there are some keywords and phrases thrown about which I don't like, to be honest. -Very limited R&D time; -Very limited R&D resources; -Tweaked N54 used because it was simpler and easier; -Power more in the 35is range (335-ish), no longer a dedicated M-engine; -Maximizing use of the existing parts bin, again, because of limited M-time and M-resources, and to spec the car to a pricepoint. Plainly, I don't like what I'm hearing... I understand and respect that this is a limited production run, in terms of volume and runtime. But I can't have that influence my purchasing decision. |

I was actually hoping SCOTT's prediction of a modified N55 would come true--it seems to have better gas mileage and less HPFP issues (at least what I have seen). I can't see the N54 as being the basis of the next M3 either, again based on SCOTT's earlier comments to that effect.

Simply having limited resources and strict parameters to work within doesn't imply diminished quality, to me. It simply means that the project presented some unique developmental and engineering challenges. We'll see if they were sucessful or not; I won't cast judgement until the full reveal. My main gripe is the price tag - do I really want to pay $50K for a 1 Series? Tough call.

Oh ok thank you. I've heard of the M1 before but never looked into it. I love this forum, it is so informative.

I was thinking this when I read Scott's intel, it was more a want than anything else, something straight outta Horse Power Freaks, with a body to match. Because right now, it's starting to look like the hot chick that has no brain nor personality to go with the body. She get you hooked with the body...same thing here....I'll wait for the second "date" (reveiling of the 1M) to confirm my suspicions...
