Any tips if I am stationed in the US? It seems that the military sales are only for those outside the US. Never really did research into this stuff, so info would be awesome.

I'd be up for one of these but I'm concerned about the new model debut. Values will drop like a stone if they release it 1 year before a complete overhaul.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=413027 It suggests the new 1 will be a 2012, and the 1M given the schedule will be a 2011. Might be just one year of production. If that's the case I'll lease instead of buy. |

Couple things:
Media outlets - even Bimmerpost - tend to go optimistic on the vehicle year when its not known precisely. I somewhat doubt the new 1 series will launch the same year as the new 3 series, which is known to be coming in 2012 (as an MY2013). Secondly, the various 1 series models will be released over the course of a few years, just as with the 3 series. I suspect the current 1 series coupe and convertible will be in production at least a year past the hatchbacks. If you figure the 5 door 1 series hatchback hits early 2013, then the coupe and convertible probably won't hit til 2014. That still only gives at most 3 years for the E82 1M, but that's still a lot better than just a year. Quote:

Agreed, they probably won't launch the same year but if they release the new 1er hatchbacks in 11 as 2012 models as is suggested we could probably expect the coupe the next year and if the first gen 1M is well received a new version in the subsequent year. BMW tends tohave 7 year model runs with Ms sometime overlapping to boost sales of the outgoing model, I just don't know when they started making the E82.

That's still doesn't really provide a timeline for the F2x coupe. I can't see them actually going 7 years from the 2007 launch of the E82 coupe. I'd think they'd want to release the various body styles gradually, and a lot closer together like they do with the 3 and the 5/6. Of course, with rumors of a 1 series sedan and GT there's lots of models to fill the gaps. |

Don't think so... Would you rather have a 1M or just the new 1? Most will prefer the former. The next 1M won't be out until probably 2014/5..

In my experience the release of the next generation vehicle will effect resale though. If I were in the position to make the choice, I might be inclined to lease an F2x 135i and then just get an F2x 1M once it debuts.

Its amazing how similar the front end of the 1M Coupe is, compared to this rendering back in 2007

It's one thing to render a car that has so much leaked pics and spy pics but to do it without and that far ahead and then end up coming so close is amazing. I think I read somewhere that Huckfeldt also has an inside source so I'm sure that helps a lot too.
