What does this scheduled service light mean?

It shows the rear end of the car with a plume of smoke coming out?? Is this an emissions light?

In the OBC (on board computer) when you cycle thru the settings, there are ttwo that deal with your annual safety / emissions inspection ( that is if your state requires it) The plume out the back of the car is the "emissions " portion of the 2 settings.

If you havent done it yet i suspect it is due at the end of the month. the warning comes on 29 or 30 days before the end of the month to give you time to get it done.

If you already did it, then wherever you brought it didnt reset the light to the following year. Indy shops are sometimes not aware of this setting. You can reset it yourself BTW... you dont need any specisl scan tool ..

Regards,

And the light with the double S at the front of the car is for your annual VA safety inspection. It is also user re-settable.

It's in the manual.

I don't have a manual. I downloaded the one from this website but it does not mention anything about reseting those warnings. Only mentions reseting tpms.

There are two '08 manuals - one for cars with iDrive/Navi and one for cars without. The state inspection reset procedure is described in the iDrive manual on page 73 (and is listed as an option). The non iDrive manual does not mention it. So if you don't have iDrive, you may have to check with your dealer for the reset.
