USB Flash drive set up.
I've heard it through the grapevine that I'm getting a flash drive for X-Mas. My question is, how do you "format" or set up the drive for use in the BMW? I use a Mac. Do I just make folders on the drive in the finder and copy the MP3's onto it via drag and drop?
Thanks, Al. |

You probably do not need to format. It will come formatted with either FAT or FAT32. Just drag and drop mp3 files to the drive. I wouldn't make more than one level deep folders or else you'll have to drill down through all the folders which is a pain.

Thanks guys... I already have an iPod, problem is I can't keep the iPod connected and the Satellite Radio plugged in at the same time (iPod uses that stupid Y-Cable) Its very dangerous to switch between the 2 while driving, so I don't. I figured the music on a flash drive and my satellite should be able to be plugged in at the same time.

I dropped the MP3's onto the drive by Artist/Album/Song. and it functions just like the iPod. I couldn't be happier with this set up!

I use a flash drive as well...compact and convenient. I'm also a Mac user. Just drag the songs out of iTunes and drop into the flashdrive. Done.
