and likely the rear control components.... the budget will be the judge of that though. but things are looking good, i think they will be more worth it then carbon fiber hood or trunk immediatly. |

oh i've been practicing....
me and my buddy figure it's going to be a couple days of install at the same time. full on transformation in one shot.... wouldn't have been that way if my car was written off before everything was going in. so once i get the new car, the fun will begin!!! |

It sure is! Did them nonetheless, and while there was def an improvement, with each mod you start venturing into the land of diminishing marginal returns...

Doesn't that mean you're close to finished?

Ha ha, in theory it should, but in reality it doesn't.
Once the mod bug bites, if there is anything that can improve the car by even 1%, you often tend do it even though the 'rational' side of you says it doesn't justify its cost (especially when you have exhausted other options/low hanging fruit and still have the urge to mod)!

That's also part of it. ~$450+2 hours for better front end feel has a better gain/$ ratio then ~$250+7.5 hours for rear end feel

in the long run, it's less hours that way. I have springs, shocks, shock mounts, sway bar, bushings, LSD and maybe the control pieces to go in the rear all at the same time. will make the long hours worth it in the long run. and never have to go back to do other parts because i regret not doing something in the first place, which is usually how it goes. |

Update
Had the M3 front tension rods / wishbones installed today, as well as removing the CDV entirely. What a difference in the driving engagement! The clutch engages and disengages much more quickly now, like all the other manual transmissions I've driven have. Much more mechanical in feel now, as opposed to the vagueness inherit before. The guy that removed the CDV actually stalled the car a few times on the test drive because the engagement was so quick I didn't expect to have a huge difference in steering from the M3 bits, but it's quite noticeable. On large turns now, it no longer understeers nearly as much as before. Before, you could feel the tangent the car wanted to go off on, but now there's no fight at all; it just glides around right where I point it. Also, the change in steering force on bumps during turns has been reduced as well. Before, when going around a corner, a bump would make the car understeer more on extension, and then quickly oversteer more on compression. Now, it all seems more averaged out and predictable. All in all, both are great upgrades, and it only cost half as much as I was originally quoted to do them both |

very glad to hear you're enjoying the new installs... it's always a bit of a fear when you just put something new on and you don't know if it's going to be as good as you hope it will be. always good to hear that it's better then expected Enjoy!!! |

Update
Upgraded the Procede unit to the rev 2.5 board today, with the 8-26 firmware / maps Also got the 3.5" Vishnu catless DP installed today, thanks to Huy Sound Great great great sound with the Performance axleback. Sounds like a rally car to me now, throaty and fuel pops on the overruns. Got to be careful not to set car alarms off with it in parking garages now The drone is noticable on the highway though. Not when cruising, but any acceleration in 6th gear was quite rumbly. Good to some, not good to others. Power Good torque increase, and less perceived drag when not on the throttle. Top end keeps pulling now, unlike before, so that's great. Little too easy to spin the tires out now though Naturally, the smell is quite pronounced now though. However, it's not the sulfur dioxide smell I usually associate with bad exhaust smells, just a motorsport fuel smell. I enjoy it, but I hope anyone a half mile behind me does as well. After installation, took a trip to Julian for lunch. As a testament to the new hardware, I got pulled over on the way up for a quick bout of overzealous acceleration. Saw a the lights a mile back, and quickly pulled over and killed the engine to clear the smell out before the officer arrived. Despite the speeding, the tint, the plate, the tails and the smell, he let me go Best part from the encounter: Quote:

Not sure if it's the mold-release goo on the fresh tires, or the changes in sidewall, but these tires are squirrely as hell at highway speeds on any lateral vehicle input. Made the commute quite...interesting

they may just need a looooot of heat. The tires I'm running I actually have to be pretty stupid with to get them warmed up and gripping hard. Even coming off the motorway after going 70mph for 20 minutes, there's not enough heat in the tires. You need to hit corners and hard turns to get them to stick. This may be your problem |

I may have to give them several hundred miles to wear into gripping properly. |
