No, the e46 M3 is still faster around a race track. It is prepared to a higher class (more modifications allowed), so while it almost has as much power going to the rear wheels, it is lighter, has more tire, aero and full suspension modifications. It is a full on race built car while the 135i is a street legal stock class race car. But even at that, the 135i was only about 3 seconds a lap slower than the M3 (since it's a power track).

We also did SoCal Euro at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego in June (but don't worry, some track action will be coming again soon).

Okay all - I may have lost my mind. With another big East Coast road trip coming up in Sept., I picked up this trailer the other day

Good job, Scott!!! Now you have room for a canopy or two! I felt horrible loaning you ours for a couple of day at the Glen @ OFest last year, only having to take them back in the pouring rain on Sunday, so that we could get our gear back home.
I also remember your dad coming up and shuttling things for you too. Looks like most of that is a thing of the past now! Looks great! How does it handle with a full trailer and an extra set of wheels back there? Any tests yet? (I'm thinking of doing something similar) |

Do have to be careful backing up - that thing will make a sudden sharp turn in a hurry with those 2 small wheels that close to the car.

Hi All - Just in time before we take the track again next weekend, there is a four page article on the car coming in the August issue of Bimmer Magazine.

Alright, enough of models and magazines - let's get to what you guys really care about. How the 135i is doing on the track (especially compared to old benchmarks like the '95 e36 M3 ltw's)
We did the BMW club race at Thunderhill (great track BTW) up in Willows, Ca. on Aug. 8/9. It was a little on the warm side (temps in the 90s), which are not ideal for going after track records, but Ralph was able to get new H-Stock track records for both the Cyclone and Bypass configurations. New on the car this time were some little splitters on the front bumper, e92 M3 front sway bar and Hawk DTC 60/70 pads. Here's Ralph tearing it up in Turn 10

We did find one more trick for when the cars go into the 'dynamic rev limiter mode' - when it's that hot out, we ran the heater on full blast (good thing Ralph had a Cool-Shirt)

No, I can get some US magazines in an Internet Shop but not Bimmer...
For the engine temperature, you could put the kit BMW (radiator water left + air ducts + more powerful fan) but it is not yet available ... |

Hi All -
With Road Atlanta coming up at the end of September, we've started getting ready. That trailer I picked up in July? Well, cleaned up the wiring, powder-coated the uprights on the wheel rack, cleaned the trailer up a little, new taillights, some DOT reflective paint, some eyebolts around the edge for tying down to, a spare tire mount on the tounge and a spare tire, some saftey chains and painted the wheels with silver wheel paint. I think it's ready to roll!

Long time between races this year, but we just got back from the Sept. 19/20 weekend at Buttonwillow. With temps over 100 deg., it was grueling for both us and the cars, but Ralph was able to break the old H-Stock track record for configuration 25 CW of 2:06.2xx with a 2:05.1xx
Here are pics from the photographer, vanhap.com Saturday http://vanhap.com/imgs/2009/Septembe...ace/index.html Sunday http://vanhap.com/imgs/2009/Septembe...ace/index.html Now to scramble and prepare for the road trip to Road Atlanta!

HI All -
I'm pleased to say that I made it cross country and back with the 135i to race at Road Atlanta with no real problems at all. It took 44 hours to go from Huntington Beach to downtown Atlanta! But I slacked off and took 54 hours to come back. We don't have any on track photos from Road Atlanta (won't get them for a while), but we got the class wins for H-Stock and set a new H-stock track record at Road Atlanta of 1:40.3xx So in the mean time, here's a pic from PIR earlier in the year
