I had it out on the Autobahn on the way home. The Software is really starting to adjust to the manifold. It's nice to have reserve power and torque available: at 115-120Mph.
I am waiting for good weather and a Sunday morning to really drop the hammer. I was thinking why did I wait 6 months to do this? BMW should have offered this as a ZHP package like on the E46 330i.

Congrats! I agree with you BMW did some badge engineering...
Could I ask your reasons for AA remote tune box vs a german option.

The decision for Active Auto was because they literally speak the same language as me.
While I do speak some German and many Germans speak some English I did not trust that German tuners would be familiar with actual software or program settings that I suspect are unique to North America. Several locals I have talked with at cars shows and meets did not realize that BMW builds N52s with a different no stage intake manifold. BMW BLOG also had a write up here Showing the proof with dyno showing a 25Hp increase at the wheels. http://www.bmwblog.com/2013/04/29/bu...take-manifold/ I am not sure what exactly the car is putting out. But, having previously owned a E90 330i my E92 330i feels even better. Combined with the Signature exhaust the sound track is nothing short of fantastic.

just sent evolve and email, I think I'll be picking up the tune before headers so I don't have a CEL when I put the headers on.

Yup. There is actually tuning done to further take advantage of the headers.

Yeah i think i'm going to get the header tune, and just run it until i can get the headers on. Unless theres a small fee(<$100) to upgrade to the header tune when i eventually get them.

I'm planning on getting the tune very soon (albeit on a 125i) and seeing if I can tee up a before and after dyno run with it. If all goes well im hoping it happens in the next 1-1.5 weeks.

After a long time of trying to decide between evolve and AA, i went AA because of the sale and local support. Had a few issues trying to order through evolves website, so i took it as a hint to go against the tide and try something different. Plus saving $300 made me feel a bit better about it. i'm also going to try a set of Mapleridge's collectors/headers. In an ideal life i'd go for supersprints, but they're so damn expensive and i just can't justify the cost. If i can pay half price and get half gains, i'm content with it, though i suspect they'll have more than that.

Ugh, you're not making this easy! How do you think it would measure up with a performance exhaust? |

At some point I learned it's significantly cheaper and better to do things right the first time. But I hadn't yet at that point!

The manifolds I had made are not "cheap" in quality. The gains on the dyno were quite strong as well. They also bolt right up and keep o2 sensors in stock location. With the manufacturing capabilities that SS has. A majority of their price is markup. |
