I would love to buy the 1 series coupe in crimson red but have some reservations. Has anybody bought the CR and then fell out of love with the colour after some time?
Also, has anybody experienced extreme fading of the colour over time or other “wear” on the colour, more so then other colours? Basically, do you still feel the same about the colour choice after a period of time and do you have the same excitement etc? If I buy with my heart it will be CR but my head says perhaps alpine white is more practical and the “safe” colour you can not go wrong with. |

I've only had my 1er about 3 weeks, but I don't regret the color at all. In fact, it's one of my favorite things about the car. Shortly after I placed the order I tried to switch to a LeMans Blue M-Sport, but after a few days we heard back from the factory that it was too late to make changes. I was a little bummed for a bit, but now I'm SO glad I got the car that was my first instinct. The color is absolutely phenomenal. Because it's a flat, non-metallic paint, I think it probably shows swirls easier, but I see just see it as an excuse to take better care of my paint! Go to autopia.org if you want to learn all about detailing and paint protection - I just saw a 20+ year old Porsche with original Guards Red paint that literally looked like showroom quality. Anyway, I'm kind of rambling - but I really think Crimson is an underrated color on the 1er. It's one of the most different, and it seems that very few people choose it, which is fine by me.

Often when I get out of my car and walk away, I find myself looking back, mesmerized by just how visually stunningly it looks. White, although very nice, would never have that same effect. Simply put, crimson red looks SMOKIN' HOT on the 1 series. Last edited by IS+1; 06-02-2010 at 02:03 PM.. |

I am impressed with this color and plan to try it .But i have noticed that some car pics [infact the majority]seem to have a pinkish tint. Its difficult to explain but the link might show the exact color of crimson red
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors On the other hand the most impressive ones[taken in bright sunlight] appear really impressive [more of a bright red].Are you guys post processing these photos and changing the hue to a more bright red color? I am torn between AW and CR though i would love to have a metallic color for obvious reasons.I would appreciate some feedback |
