maybe bmw will take a hint and consider pricing the setup a bit more reasonably... 20hp for say like 600-700 bucks I think would be sufficient, as for the additional radiator.. .do we really need it?

that additional radiator is going to hike the price I feel, but if that's the only additional thing with the software then in may come in at a reasonable price like the e46 zhp cam and software retrofit is!

The additional radiator will be required with the software upgrade, I'm sure. Because that's how they'll need to justify the high cost of it the package.

My crystal ball says there will also be a 5-8 hour installation charge - so the total IMO will be over $2k.
Edit: Plus the software upgrade charge, an easy 5 hour additional - when my 335i went in for reprogamming (several times), each time it took 5 hours. Hope I'm wrong... |

If they price this package like a Dinan tune (w/oil cooler) I think we are looking at a minimum of $3,500+ with labor to install. Hope BMW NA decides to be competitive and price it lower than Dinan or the dollar equivalent of the euro price. For me anything over $2,500 installed is a deal breaker.

That's the official line. In reality, who knows? In practice, sometimes the upgrade fails after a few hours, sometimes the ECU crashes, in rare cases it's ever been known to get damaged. As someone who writes software for a living, I can tell you without the slightest doubt that BMW in general suffers from software architecture/design crappiness. I am absolutely amazed that a company of BMW's stature can tolerate such bad software. But if you don't believe me, ask your dealer how long it takes to get a new software uploaded into the car... |

Your answer seems good to me. Not to mention I don't think a Mitsubishi dealer would know how long it takes to upload new software on a BMW. |

Carpimp - Do you have the BMW part number? I admit in advance that I have not visited the BMW site trying to find it for the umpteenth time. I am ordering a 135i directly and would like to have this installed at the factory along with some other BMW Performance parts.

Matt, you have one on order right? I was was told release was sometime in June. I know they already have it out on some of there demo cars. A source told me that sometime in May BMW will be at Hokenheimring with there performance power kit, tearing it up. They wouldn't give me a date. You know anything about this, hook me up so I/we can go spy on them.

Honestly, I'd consider decent bucks for the cooling alone.
