That's sick!!! I've come so close to buying E30s several times over the years but somehow ended up with my S13 instead. Sorry to hear it is no more. ShocknAwe Freeing up terminals from old crusty connectors and replacing with new connectors? When I remade my entire 1UZ engine harness with all new connectors, I would crack the old ones to pieces like walnuts with an old pair of channel locks. You probably figured something out by now though. I'm amazed at how many connectors can be deconstructed with the slightly bent, extremely sharp harbor freight pick I modified on my bench grinder. Mayflower I just did this job last weekend. FCP has a very straightforward and helpful video on it. It really helps to have gearwrenches and interior trim prybars (cheap at harbor freight). Air tools really make quick work of disassembly. Also recommend replacing the bumpstops and lower mounts too, especially if the shocks had been leaking oil onto them. Apply torque to the nut - not the 6mm shock shaft - because that will snap pretty easy if you're not careful. |

I love our X5D for what it does but we talk about getting an E39 M5 in manual to replace it almost weekly.

Yep. First step in the process is getting my wife to learn to drive a manual. She's working on it. We've come a long way!

Missing no, we simply didn't get them.
Makes you wonder,.. Same as they skipped out on the 50 cent led pcb to light the ashtray. Omitted somewhere 2010/2011. I have sourced one and is ready to be wired int. Just don't fancy taking the center console apart, which has to be done to reach it. Then I can also finally ad the A/V USB port and FBAS cable for video playback.

Rear suspension (half) refresh! Might've gone a little overboard, but I got a good deal on an 8-pack of arms from K9Leader.
Pretty straightforward, only snapped the right toe link eccentric bolt. Not bad for a bunch of sleeved bolts on a rust belt car. Torqued at ride height (13.6" cL of hub to fender in my case, stock sport suspension). Also did my rear struts, which turned out to be totally fine. I mistook greasy road salt for oil leaking out. Oh well, guess I have an extra set now. Remaining original eight bushings seem to be in good shape. Didn't fix my mystery clunk, but it did cure my wheelhop during buffoonery. I'll take it. Celebrated with some empty parking lot snow skids afterwards, while blasting a Latin edition of Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz CD I pilfered from the pick-and-pull last week. And of course, what suspension job would be complete without a DIY string alignment ritual in the lavender semi-circle of hell? Last edited by cerealwars; 02-04-2026 at 08:20 AM.. |

Hahah, next fall for sure. Too much saline trapped in the nethers. Gotta go rinse it in the next pouring rain. It's been below freezing here for over a month now.

My 128i decided to no start no crank this morning.
At first it just clicked once but after attempting to jump it, it just clicked. Broke out the old Crown Vic to drive to work this morning. Gonna figure it out tonight if I can. Started just fine last night, and nothing unusual. Everything is lit up and comes on. Just nothing when the button is pressed. I did replace the BST about a month or so ago, but its been fine since. Gonna check the ground straps and try jumping it with a cable hooked to the chassis and not just the battery. If that doesnt solve it, tow it in and have them figure it out and lilely end up with a new starter. |

Put it on the charger before I left but when I closed the trunk the clip must have came off. So my battery tender didnt do shit for it. Its sitting on it now. I checked the ground by the positive jump post under the hood, its fine. Is there someway the key could have been forgotten by the car? When the key goes in and you hit the button, you can hear the fuel pump prime, everything is on and working like it should. No stored codes. Just acts like its engine isnt in there. Button press and nothing. |

So with a full charge, and the jumpbox on the positive terminal under the hood and the negative on the OFH I got in and pressed the button. Didn't hear it initially due to neighbors driving by. But once they passed I heard it. I can hear the starter engaging while the button is being held. I hear the mechanical whine. The headlights turn off while cranking, but I heard it. Multiple times and the same thing. I think my starter just randomly decided it was a NO starter. While I have another car to drive, it decided to have a blend door failure and I only have defrost heat now. So life's just peachy. Gonna see about getting it towed in, and getting the starter replaced. I have power to the relay under the hood, nothing is unusual. The key fob locks and unlocks the car, attempts to start it. Everything powers on, the hvac, radio, windows up and down, fog lights, horn all of it works just like it should. Just nothing on startup. So yay me. |
