Added an adjustable clutch stop this evening when my BMS order showed up. Can’t believe what a noticeable difference it is for the money.

Charge pipe/Tial install will have to wait for another day.

Butyl rubber. And you'll want to put it all back or you'll have water in your car.

Water comes in by the window, along the whole edge. Runs along the inside of the door. Goes past that caulk and then out the drain hole in the bottom of the door. Without the caulk, it goes into the cabin. Or at a minimum into the door sill, where it can corrode things or sometimes fill up enough to get in the cabin that way.

I had to replace it on my X3 recently to stop a leak where the stuff had gotten dry and hard. Turns out that stuff has a purpose.

So when the window is down a little and water runs down the inside it uses that to drain it away?

I've never seen water inside the car or running down the inside of the window unless it was down and raining. I started to try to peel that stuff, then tried cutting it. It sucked.

Currently how my door panel is. Just waiting on my regulator to show up. Then comes the fun of installing it and adjusting the window.

Im just gonna tape the foam inner panel back on and do my best with it. Wasn't trying to destroy it but it failed before the butyl rubber did. That foam thing was crumbly and about just fell out

Edit: for the 55 bucks ill just order the new door foam and put a new one in. Instead of trying to save the crumbly one I removed.

With the window up. Rain goes down the glass, gets past the long horizontal seal, and keeps going inside the door itself. Not 100% of it of course, but some, and more than a few drops. Once its inside the door it goes where it wants, often down the foam piece. The butyl rubber keeps a seal so the water stays inside the door and keeps on going to the bottom where it finally drains out (and leaves that tell-tale dark spot down the side skirt).

Without the seal, on my X3 at least, the water can build up in that area, and is held in by the door seal running all the way around. When go out to the car and open the door after it rains, a bunch of water dumps out on your feet. If it rains enough that level rises and goes into the car.

To be fair I'm not 100% sure how the 1ers work, I don't have mine anymore, just love to still be around to see what people are doing with theirs. I'd go check if the gaskets work this way as well to be certain if I still had it. I kind of remember it being set up the same way but could be wrong.

Makes sense. My 1er is getting parked. Stupid fucking BMW, BREAKING MY WALLET.

Passenger side window regulator took a crap today. Like bro, chill out. Keep breaking shit and you'll be sitting and staring at old reliable my Crown vic be the daily.

Just gonna throw it in the garage and let it sit til I get the pass side regulator and new foam insulation for both sides.

Verifying the fasteners for my suspension refresh, I realized I'd bought the inner eccentric and outer bolts for the steel rear camber arms. I ordered the correct bolts for the aluminum ///M camber arms from FCP on Sunday morning and received them on Tuesday, 2 days later, 711 miles from origin in Mesa, AZ.

I literally did the same thing when I swapped my subframe. Except the other way around. I had the longer bolts for the aluminum ///M camber arm and needed the shorter ones because I kept my stock steel arms. (Just redid the suspension, so didn’t want to also buy new shocks.)

When I end up replacing the shocks, I’ll swap the arms at the same time. Can’t wait to see you complete this portion of your build.

I’m about to bring my 128 out of hibernation…😎

Finally made the decision on some upgrades. Front sway bar, rear upper control arms and these bad boys. Couldn’t bite the bullet on VS-5RS so went VS-5. 235’s front / 265’s rear. And while at it going with stage 2 CarBahn tune.

My LH Blackline tail has water ingress and some flakey reflector material coming off on the inside, so I ordered a set ("High" 63212225282) from ECS on 20 February. Today I received notification from ECS telling me the item was no longer available. At the time I ordered them I went to FCP first, who's search yielded "Oops! We couldn't find "63212225282". They might be getting scarce.

In response I ordered a set from Schmiedmann's, who showed stock.

We'll see.

I ordered a set from schmeidmann a year or two ago when a careless A-hole broke one of mine backing into me in a parking lot, then drove away without even an "I'm sorry" note.

Came quick.

Schmeidmann will generally email you within a couple business days if something is unavailable. Unlike ECS who sounds like kept your money for a month. Very typical ECS behavior.

Installed an M3 front sway bar (including new drop links, bushing housings, and bushings, of course). The old drop links and bushings were shot.

Anyone need a 128i sport suspension front sway bar?

They're showing 10 sets in Odense so I'm not worried about my order, just curious with what happens when those 10 are all gone. $750+ delivered off Ebay from Latvia until they dry up as well. C'est la vie.

LOL, I was taking out the rubber floor mats to replace them with velours for the summer when I discovered I bought a brand new set of Anthrazit velours 2 years ago.

I also found out the rubber floor mats P/N 51472239697 are NLA stateside.

Removed the old evap. I usually find that most jobs aren't as bad as people say they are. This one might be the exception. Just the amount of stuff that needs to be removed is diabolical. Hopefully start reassembling tomorrow. Hats off to anyone who has successfully completed this repair

yea, umm that's way down their on my priority list 😂

my dash started to delaminate but it's been that way since i bought this car 3 years ago and hasn't gotten worse at all.

but, when i do feel very bored someday and i find a clean dash, i do plan to do the evap 'while i'm in there' 🫣

Making progress. Got the engine side buttoned up with a new expansion valve. Vacuum test after 1 hour looks good. That's a relief. The dash is just roughed in but lining up pretty good. Getting old sucks. I feel like this is taking me way too long, but I'm trying to double check everything, routing connectors etc. Hope to make it start looking like a car tomorrow.

looks good! I replaced an e30 dash, and took like 8 hours moving slowly. But that was a first for me. Some people can swap in a couple hours, with practice. You don't want any creaks/squeaks, so take your time and nail everything down
