What a great ride, I really enjoyed the project! I hope the dyno information and costings have been helpful to others considering buying/modding an N54 135 or 1M.
Very happy to see Alex taking the rig to the next level in many different ways with his own ideas!

So what benefits does changing the whole M3 rear subframe bring over simply swapping out:
M3 Subframe bushings M3 Control arms (lower) front M3 Control arms (top and bottom) rear M3 E92 front/rear sway bars From my limited research its...the rear toe-arm links, the finned diff cover & the LSD?

You can't use the M3 toe arms as they're not the correct size. You need to either reuse the 135i toe arms or get aftermarket adjustable ones if lowered significantly. Also, when it comes to installation, it probably costs the same amount or maybe less to just swap in an entire subframe with the bushings pre-installed rather than removing and pressing in new subframe bushings into your stock subframe. The main purpose though for getting the full axle though is cost and the LSD. It costs $4k to buy and install an aftermarket LSD into a welded diff. It probably going to cost approx $4-5k to buy the whole M3 rear axle and get it all installed.

Maybe once one of my colleagues returns from I'll take off a weekday and we'll go down. I just need maybe 1-2 weeks notice so I can close off all my bookings.

It took my wife a week to notice my car had different wheels. Wasn't a subtle change either, silver 19s to Gunmetal 18s |

Great write up Kenny. Makes me a little sad I didn't put in the research before buying and get an N54.
So when are you going to get an N55 and show us what you can do with one of those? |
