Ok, for Sunday after the Welt 4.0...
I do not think for those of us who want to drive the Gross Glockner Pass, that we can do both the dinner at Andechs AND have enough time to drive South to near Kuftsein and check in our hotel and get some small Alpine driving in. So... I propose after the Welt 4.0 car show... we leave around 15:00, and drive/head South to Kufstein. As we drive South on the A93 Autobahn, in Brannenburg is the very last Esso in Germany. We should stop there and fill up, since it will be our last fuel stop. Its a small two pump mom and pop place that closes at 19:00. We will also need to buy a Austrian Vignette decal for 8 euros there. Rudi made an excellent suggestion that we drive the world famous Tatzelwurmstraße. Kind of the German version of the Tail of the Dragon. Driving times... BMW Welt to Branneburg = 54 min Branneburg to our hotel via the Tatzelwurmstraße = 1 hour. (Monday) Kuftsein to Gross Glockner = 3 hours (180 kms) Monday's Gross Glockner Pass tour... 1). Dackelone 2). evolution80 3). gs/e60/1m? +son 4). Xcution 5). BMWBreed 6). Rikx1M 7). 8).

Sunday's side trip.... (after the Welt 4.0)
Our Hotel near Kuftsein... Nice clean modern rooms... one of the old castle/burgs that our hotel has a view of... Schlossblick Hotel Embach 1 A-6320 Angerberg Austria http://schlossblick.at/homepage/das-haus/ Festung Kuftstein in Kuftstein. (fortress) http://www.festung.kufstein.at/index.php/en/ We can maybe visit the Castle/Fortress that night. I bet Rick would like to take some pics up there. I think we should make our way to the hotel first and then either eat at the hotel or head out into the city to find something. Our hotel is in a remote part of the country side. But its only about ten minutes from Kufstein. I'm sure our local tour guide Andreas can tell us where to go. PS: YES(!) the hotel has WiFi in the rooms!

Wish I could make it to the pass on Monday but my GF can't get that much time off and I need to keep an eye on finances with the furlough coming up.

Maybe those of us that arent going on the extended trip can go from the Welt to a different place for dinner instead of driving down to Andechs. Or if there is still a handfull of us that want to go to dinner we can still do it. |

For those of you that won't be joining us for the Gross Glockner on Monday... you guys could join us for our short detour drive down South and join us for dinner in Kuftsein. And then head home after we eat dinner. Here is my plan... we will grab a snack at the Welt's cafe downstairs in the lobby. Then we will head South around 3pm. We will drive to Brannenburg (the last Esso in Germany) just before Kuftsein, Austria. Further South of Brannenburg is the world famous Tatzelwurmstraße. We will drive for about an hour to our hotel and then grab dinner there or in the area. We could even stop somewhere before too ? Its all up to us. Tatzelwurmstraße, 83080 Oberaudorf, Oberbayern, Bayern https://maps.google.de/maps?hl=en&q=...&ved=0CI8BELYD We would take the back roads.... B307 to Bayrischezell and then to Beim Schweren Gatter and down into Austria. The route would look something like this... (but we can change this route as need be... ) https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=M...=h&mra=ls&z=11

I just made my reservation at Motel One, or at least I think it did. I checked the box "checking in before 6PM" so they didn't ask for a credit card or anything.
Going to head down Friday morning and head back Sunday immediately after the show. GF can get Friday off but not Monday. I've never been to Munich so going to take this opportunity to see a little of the city on Friday.

I didn't get a confirmation email either.
Thanks for the Viktualienmarkt recomendation, I'll check it out. The GF isn't a WWII buff so we'll just knock around the city for a day.

You might just call Motel-One in Garching and make sure everything is ok. They speak English just fine. Also... in Munich they have Gray-Line tour buses, you could see the city that way and just get off where and when you like. In fact one of the stops is right in the BMW Welt parking lot! Just outside the front door(where we held Welt 2.0)! Only $17 to $31 pp... http://www.grayline.com/Munich/View_All

I want to go to Andechs BUT... I do not see there being enough time to go to the dinner AND then drive to Kuftsein. Then on Monday we will drive to Gross Glockner Pass.

My wastegate rattle has gotten out of control. It sounds HORRIBLE! I hope I can get this fixed before WELT. It is going to sound worse in the garage!

I understand. For this damn recall I have to remove the boost and AFR gauges I have because the cable that has to be replaced under recall is under the dash and the dealer says it takes 4 hours to do.
At least it gives me an excuse to get the gauge holders like Justin has on his car.
