Staying healthy is not an inefficient use of time.

Just so y'all are aware, there're two types of solar power generation: Photovoltaic (solar panels -> power) and solar thermal (big mirrors superheat a central 'power' tower).
Photovoltaic plants don't work at night. Solar thermal plants store thermal energy in big 'heat' batteries (really just steam or molten glass) over the course of the day. Then, when the sun goes down, the plant stops using its mirrors and starts using its ultra-hot medium to continue to run the boiler for the turbine. Nights can be windy. Water and wave generation doesn't stop when the sun goes down. Some solar still works with no sun. It's not as infeasible as you'd believe to be making renewable power 24 hours a day. Power that supports A/C during the day and power that charges your EV one night a week. (Seriously, why is everyone assuming that every EV owner needs to charge every night?) Also, on the 'bike' convo, I'd bet a bunch of people hop over to electronic-assisted (EV lol) bikes for short trips and tasks. Much easier to travel much further on a bike. Check out Super73.com if you're bored.

However using a bicycle as a form of transportation when running errands is an inefficient use of time. Are you following the conversation here?

Meanwhile the US is supposedly shutting down domestic oil channels and increasing reliance on foreign oils. Maybe the government is playing the long game of preserving nonrenewable resources...which would work only if there were any domestic company left to do the job when the time comes.

I would say eFuel is a better investment and much more environmentally friendly at this point. This guy gives some nice insight to the renewable energy industry.

Blades are literally a grain of sand in the endless beaches of trash we generate. Why are we fixated on recycling something that makes renewable energy?

I also find it interesting and hilarious that we in the US are so focused on bike helmets, yet in Europe, they hardly wear them, especially when commuting.

If only there were some sort of connection between historically-low inland water levels and climate change..

As to Europeans and bicycles, that's because they have better licensing requirements than the joke of the system we have here in the states for cars. Also, bicycles AND motorcycles are more integrated into their societies. |

Again, the better solution is to find more ways to recycle rather than declare wind power a wasteful endeavour. The waste from burning fossil fuels still seems to not be an issue for many, but for some reason recycling blades is. I can only speculate confirmation bias, in many cases political, in some emotional.
