I have been lost in the wilderness of factories in Taiwan for 2 weeks and missed everything. I gotta say i like the look of the M1 in black.
Any one heard anything about pricing yet, i think it is the most important factor after BMW have basically said they had limited funds to build the car and used parts from where ever possible, they cannot then tell us we need extra funds to buy it. i mean no bespoke M engine, no DCT, manual seats, etc, if its over 110k OTR i'm pulling the plug. they seriously cannot justify more then that for M3 suspension and wheels. |

Just to give you some insight into the madness here in WA...I gave Auto Classic, $5000 (big $'s) on 13 October 2010 as deposit on an unseen unknown unspecified 1M in any colour they fancied. Auto Classic are the only WA BMW dealer. I've got no idea when construction or delivery is. All I know is I have loved my 135i so anything that's similar but better is fine by me.

Just saw the RRP for the 1M in Germany is 50,500EUR.
The M3 coupe there costs 68,750EUR, 135i is 40,100. So if you go by the relationship with the M3, the 1M should be approx $125,000 If you go by the relationship of 1M vs 135i in Germany you get a price of about $94,000 Which do you think it will be closer to? Haha... my bet is on the $120kish |

In related news, drive.com.au's report on "Cars of 2011" refers to the 1M as "a fiery M-badged 135i coupe". Tongue in cheek much? |

On the basis of all the above assessments it means that us poor Australians will pay approximately twice what a US citizen will pay for the same product. Has anyone got a definitive analysis of why this is so?

Paying double is old news mate. We already pay double the price for the 135i, I'm sure the 1M will be no exception. We get stung here

May I ask what deposit different dealers are asking for?
Motorline in Brisbane yesterday asked for a $10,000 deposit...that blew me away!! Suffice it to say that I couldn't see any reason to give them an interest free loan of that amount for six months. What experience have you guys had? |

I will put a few bob on these things goin like hot cakes.... the newest M car (X's don't count) since the 6 series was RE introduced in '05. Relative low(er) $ entry to the M fraternity, limited build, track potential, excusivity of colour and duration of the life cycle of the car. (the M2 will replace the 1M in the next gen small M car and will be 4cylinder) All the hype of cars like the Focus RS was shite, "limited numbers, sold out blah blah blah" well there are still some 80 cars currently on carsales. So who knows, there may be cars not sold when they arrive in Junish, but I don't know that I would gamble on that. Plus BMW dealers may just sit on them price wise till someone who wants a car pays whatever they have to to get it.... |
